I'm sorry but this is some bullshyt. Just had to get a tenant out of this 60 year old lady's house in Lithonia who hasn't paid since March 2020. Currently working with another guy who has basically a squatter in his house, who is not on a lease, hasn't paid in YEARS, and also CHANGED THE LOCKS. Both couldn't be evicted because of this dumbass moratorium and I had to pay BOTH tenants to move out of properties they do not own or pay rent in. These eviction moratoriums are absolute bullshyt. Dekalb County needs to do something about affordable housing, not sticking the bill to property owners.

I doubt governments are thinking of smaller landlords with these kinds of moves. They're assuming larger corps will have the bankroll to weather not being paid for a while longer, and it's easy PR to give renters a "break" with everything else going on. The fact that many larger corporate landlords operate month-to-month like so many others and can't afford to take the hit - no regulation declaring they should - is another discussion entirely. Either way, Dekalb or anywhere else...somebody's going to have to pay the piper eventually.
