Very close, but Rise of Nations is indeed the better game IMO. The thing that turned off some people from Rise of Nations is that you are looking at long matches if playing at a high difficulty against the AI or online.

I've actually never played Rise of Nations or a ton of RTS games for that matter, but damn did I play a lot of Age II.

It's weird that I don't like them that much because when I was young my uncle was heavy into Command & Conquer games. I'd sit there and watch him play those joints for hours, but I'm not interested in playing them at all today.

i have both and i disagree vehemently

Age 2 is more engaging beginning to end, this is reflected by the quality of players still playing.

RoN is an underrated game, but definitely not the GOAT. Starcraft washes it and so does Age of Mythology (same studio if im not mistaken)

I disagree, both have been remastered and RoN holds up better than any of those games. My opinion and the reviews all over agree with me

I just went and look at this game on Youtube because of this thread. And it look like an Age of Empire.


I'm looking for another PC game after being highly disappointed playing Civilization 6. Civ 5 is so much better than Civ 6

i actually have both the RoN original discs(OG and xpac) and the remaster.

played the "risk" gametype with the bantu and it was fun but i put it down and never played it again

Age 2 still on deck tho if youre a real RTS guy the big reason RoN isnt as good is response speed. Its just not as fast as some of the other RTS

they are but i lost interest after the titan expansion. The OG AoM was crack. Used Loki with that early pressure and myth unit spam all game
