Fewer shots were contested, lots of touch fouls were called, and teams shot way more free throws. The rules on physicality were "different", but talking like it was tougher to score is ridiculous.
They NEVER acknowledge that. I've posted a dozen videos from all over that era, shows the same stuff over and over again, they NEVER acknowledge the truth.

Hot damn, I just realized that that was the same New Jersey Nets team that had just gone to the Finals the previous two years in 2002 and 2003. They were good that year too, won the Atlantic and took the eventual champ Pistons to 7 games in the ECSF.
LeBron was scoring from the post, hitting outside shots, making huge defensive plays, putting up 18 in the fourth including the game winning steal-and-layup followed by the game-clinching rebound-and-dunk in a 41-6-13 game against one of the best teams in the NBA.
Cavs were down five with 1:23 left before teenage LeBron scored the final 8 points of the game. He had been in high school nine months earlier when the Nets were taking the Spurs to 6 in the Finals and now was doing that to them.
