will smith might not have wrote, but juice damn for sure did not right that shyt, I heard his written material and it is dripping in wack juice, he would never come up with such a rhyme

Will Smith ain't got no reason to lie, he confirmed the song Nas wrote for him, etc

Off topic but

I still can't believe rap fans are so stupid and sheep-like that they really let Drake get away with having ghostwriters on rap songs, lol, under the guise of "Everybody does! Music is a concerted effort!"

Any rapper who has a ghostwriter is trash and shouldn't be taken seriously, yall aint gonna mindfukk me into thinking that up is down, no matter how many media people you get to cosign it.

Will Smith ain't never been called the greatest lyricist or the best rapper in the game

people gave Drake shyt because they put this nikka on sprite cans with Biggie and Rakim, trying to put him in their light like he on their level

secondly, Drake can't even rap, he not an MC

Post Drake just ripping, just flowing, it don't exist, these nikka has no flow, the nikka sucks. Will Smith can actually rap, the Fresh Prince intro is doper than anything Drake ever spit he has no rhythm when he raps, which is you got now sway in the morning performances, no freestyles, no just spitting examples from Drake like very other real rapper has

stop bringing that garbage nikka up with real mcs

a loan which only comes from the person's work.
that was setup under our legacy to do so as well.

go see who the real is and stop living a complete prison industrial economy based lie.

Heres what we know. Will Smith says he himself wrote it. Jazzy Jeff says Will wrote it. Rakim says he did not write it. Jazzy Jeff says Rakim did not write it. Eric B. says Rakim did not write it. @Philaflava says My boy Magneto who pretty much knows everything about everything swears its MC Juice aka J.U.I.C.E. from Chicago. @Art Barr says Juice wrote it. Juice had this to say about the question

BallerStatus.com: Have you done ghost-writing for any artists?

Juice: When I first moved back to Chicago from L.A., I began working with Clubhouse Entertainment. I was part of a writing team that produced "Summertime" by Will Smith, "The Kissing Game" by High Five, "Pass the Toilet Paper" by OutHere Brothers. I would freestyle in the booth and if there were any hot lines to be used, they would use 'em. I didn't really understand publishing at the time and didn't really care because those cats kind of took me in. We got sued by Kool and the Gang for the sample and nobody made money. It let me know that I had what it took to be a writer though. I am still working with the producer of "Summertime" (K Fingers aka AZZA). Everyone in Chicago knows he's still my guy. We just wrote and produced an album for a new artist, and I'm re-writing "Summertime" for him (He's a shorty, so we think it could work again). We'll see.

In 1990 when Summertime was recorded Juice was 16 or 17 years old. Juice has previously stated he moved back to Chicago at the age of 20. Juice did not have music that was heard publicly until 1993. The math seems off in the time line but K. Fingers should be able to confirm or deny these claims. Not seeing any social media for him other than his youtube channel where he hosts some sort of religious podcast, maybe hit him up in the comments section and ask if Juice wrote Summertime or not.

People swore up and down Rakim wrote that at first and was even arguing with me on here when I told them flat out Rakim DID NOT write that. Rakim told me out his own mouth. Now if anyone says Juice didnt write it it’s the same treatment. Thing is I have a hard time believe Will is flat out lying. It has to be more along the lines of Juice lending his assistance if anything.

@Jerz-2

excellent thread btw. this is my favorite will smith song so i would like to believe he wrote it considering some of his lyrical prowess

now if juice wrote it like he said then was juice purposely trying to sound like rakim?

because juice did not rap like that back then
It’s seems like one of the cases where a line or 2 gets used or some ideas get used and a nikka taking credit for writing the whole damn song. Lol

Follow up questions to the “great debate”...
Was Rakim ghostwriting for people, back then, or at any point? I believe he wrote for Dre, but other than that?
Was there any connection between Ra and Will Smith in this era? Or are these theories all based on “It sounds like Rakim” (Cadence, etc)
Rakim told me out his own mouth he didn’t write Summertime. People came up with that on their own.

Yeah, I remember that. Your post is the one that made me look into it more, because it wasn't just Art Barr saying it anymore.

And I somewhat agree about Will not "flat out" lying but....???? :yeshrug:

They used to tour together. They were peers/friends.

Nas souled out.
Including gave license to say nikka to Gwyneth Paltrow deal with it.

see how that gooflame game works.

You noghax onky like hiphop culture when it is convenient.

No wonder y'all nikkaz ain't conviently apart of hiphop as well tho.

Plus of you deflect.

I can bring up text to show the higher quality black humane human decency factor.
is higher in comparison as a black man and revolutionary.

The beat ain't even on for that too tho.

Art Barr

Deal wit the fact.
I would serve all your people any of you nikkaz like by my damn self.

The fact and truth is hard to digest.

nikkaz into opinions.

Who has Will Smith as their favourite rapper? :russ:

Will smith is a generation of these kids gateway act.
So their affinity to protect their gateway draw. They already sent out to pasture via the destruction of the draw period is protected.

It is an immature defense mechanism socially.

Mostly all fans of pop music are victimized by this.

America is victimized by this.
By just the sheer idea of a birth of a nation existing.

So if you know this country and culturally the dialectic hiphop culture has in America. Then you should be well aware and capable of having this dialogue and know the components. Every real bboy knows these talking points. If they do not and lack in knowledge of self. It speaks volumes about whom they are skillwise in their skill discipline as well.

Meaning,...

I and juice are historically the real last top skilled culture grassroots emcees in hiphop history. That everyone you see is because of the pedigree and background from which i also arose in hiphop under the emcee pillar.

From being on the radio to amy avenue of drawing all points back to juice's pedigree.

Nobody is really better than him or i and unless you actually left the house to showed and prove frfr.

Then you are not actualized or the authority in what occurred in rap like you have been marketed by formerly Seagrams and now Viacom slash bunim and Murray.
Have lead and duped. Most pop fans of rap to commonly believe via the communication act in large mainstream gateway pools and droves.

Art Barr

Learn and exercise culture based skill in a pillar discipline.
If you are a bboy or a bgirl frfr.
Show and prove.

Till you headline or debut and rank on a grassroots indie level above four at one two or three. Do not tell me about no sellout commercial rapper.
that gets to have an idea in their lives because i am.
