Which stan nations and why? I'm curious

Probably every one of them. Those nations are kind of the nexus of indo-european, east Asiatic influences and islam.

Just to experience the cultural mark of all three movements would be a great privilege.

My favorite trips recently.

1. Egypt. The trip was amazing. Stayed for 8 days traveling all around the country. The pyramids of Giza, Cairo museum, Valley of Kings, Luxor, etc. It was an amazing experience.

2. mediterranean cruise with stops in Italy, Greece and Turkey. Stops in a lot of ancient Roman cities. I wouldn't normally do a cruise, but I highly recommend this trip.

How's the climate in Egypt? Still a hotbed from the uprisings?

I was there two years ago and it was cool. Since tourism is such a big part of the economy, the security was tight in the hotels, resorts and tourist attractions.

The people were mad cool and hospitable. They kept reminding me and my friends that we are their brothers because we are black. :mjlol:

I was expecting hostility because we were coming from the states, but they like American tourists in general. They say we are much nicer and more generous than European tourists.

Tourism is hurting though because of the uprisings and because of that, we got some unbelievable deals at four and five star hotels.

Only mistake we made was going during Ramadan which meant nightlife was virtually non existent.

What do you recommend of where you've been?

Vladivostok was my favorite, but I'm not sure I'd go there without a friend because there isn't much English spoken and I think it's a little dangerous. But it was cool walking on the frozen over Sea of Japan. The women were easy and beautiful. The vodka was cheaper than the beer. There were some interesting WW2 monuments. The architecture is cool. The funicular was something I hadn't seen. It's the end of the Trans Siberian railroad. En route, I stood on the border of North Korea, Russia and China.

Hong Kong is one of my favorite cities. It's the most vibrant Chinese city besides Shanghai. I'm partial to Qingdao. Mount Laoshan. Qingdao Beer Factory. Lots of good clubs. By the sea with (dirty) beaches and decent weather.

Trying to come up with a spring break trip for the week of March 6-10 brehs.

This is my 7th year in college (I'm in law school) and I've done a spring break trip every year:

Key West (twice)
Cruises (twice)
Cancun
New Orleans

I need a trip for this spring break. Being older and in law school most of my friends are in the "real world" now so I'm not necessarily tethered to friend group and I don't necessarily care if I go to a traditional spring break spot or not. I have no hard budget but obviously I'm a student so can't be too expensive (under $1K for the whole trip would be nice). Would prefer a place not freezing cold. Doesn't have to be a party spot either, I like nature and stuff like that too.

Any suggestions in the Caribbean, South America or maybe Mexico? Is Cabo worth it? What have you all done for spring breaks?

I'm too tired to go into it but I've been to (and all over in some cases) Austria, Canada, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Jamaica, Morocco, Portugal, Spain, and United Kingdom.

I've lived in Jamaica, Spain(Madrid, Barcelona, Granada, Sevilla), Hungary(Budapest), Morocco, and obviously NYC and the greater north east.

I've lived in Ireland and am living in Singapore currently. Can give advice about both places if anyway needs any. :yeshrug:

I've been to Spain, England, Wales, Thailand, Japan, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam and Cambodia. However Thailand and England aside I've only been to each place once. Generally I liked everywhere but Thailand is somewhere you can't go wrong with if you want to go Asia for the first time.Bangkok best city, Thailand best country (Vietnam second) and Japan best food. You haven't eaten food until you've been to Japan. :wow: Thai woman cutest, although I like the girls in Singapore as well (of Chinese and Malay origin).

Going back to Japan next year, then hopefully Korea and Australia over the next couple of years. The Philippines, Hong Kong and Taiwan are further options. I'll end up Thailand a couple of more times as well.:manny:

OK here's where I've been. Keep in mind I'm an old man trapped in a 33 year old body so I don't like to party, and I'm married so I'm not campaigning. We like to eat, see shyt and sleep.

Peru- Pretty cool, but basically a one and done for me. Lima was not a good city IMO. Just felt very have/have not. Macchu Picchu is a must see. It's really amazing what they did. Cuzco is a much better city than Lima and close to Macchu Picchu. One thing you gotta watch for in Peru is the flights.... one of ours got cancelled for no reason and we got stuck out there for an extra day. It's such a normal thing they damn near have a hotel just for delayed flights :martin:

England- wasn't really feeling it. London has NY's energy and more history, but it doesn't have its cultural energy. London LOOKS a lot like NY too. The shyt was throwing me off. I had a weird sense of deja vu. People didn't seem happy or outgoing like in NY though. I didn't like it. We did some of the countryside too.... that was pretty boring as well. I wouldn't recommend it.

France- Paris :noah: :ahh: :blessed: :ohlawd: :banderas: My favorite city so far, by a wide margin. I get goosebumps just thinking about it. We did the countryside there too. It was OK but nothing crazy. We will just do Paris and maybe Nice when we go back.

Italy- We did Venice and Tuscany (Radda In Chianti). Venice was :ld: Felt like a big shopping mall. Was pretty disappointed. Tuscany was great, mainly for the food. Good romantic getaway, and the roads :gladbron: I was whipping my little Fiat rental like a touring car. Again though the fukking airport.... they had a strike and had kids checking tickets and doing security. We damn near missed our flight back :snoop:

Croatia- this was kind of a surprise. Feels like a Mediterranean Caribbean island. We stayed on a few of the islands and the old city in Dubrovnik I think. Really chill and really cheap. I was a little bored though.

Ghana- it's probably been 18-20 years since I've been back. But it's really something to be in a BLACK country. I hear it's thriving and is a real pillar of stability as well. I have beef with my dad which would make a visit weird but I plan to go in the next few years. I would recommend everybody go.

And no matter where you go, get an AirBnB if you can. Hotels are bullshyt. I might post some pictures and videos of the kinds of places we stayed in on our last trip. Totally changes the vibe. Also get Google Translate.... you can read shyt through your camera.
