Too many people get caught up in trying to find their dream home imo. Buy a rental for yourself, and buy the cheapest house you can that's not horrible. People buy as much house as they can afford and then get in trouble when the hidden costs roll up. I bought a cheap little 3/2 for 135k in ATL. Got a raise at work and now i'm trying to pay it off in half the time. Only problem is I got suckered in by the idea of buying a house with a big yard. :francis:I barely use it and I got to pay a lawn crew to come mow it twice a month.

The issue is that rent always goes up so it’s stupid to continue renting when you’re not building any equity since you don’t own it. But housing prices inflating & stagnant wages plus more average debt are preventing people from even being able to afford one

:patrice:

recent changes to the tax code should have some pretty radical impacts on homeownership as the effect are felt
