That's a weirdly dismissive take on, you know, legislation that secured a basic American right for black people. But hey man, you do you.
What was gained from it? 50 plus years of voting accomplished what exactly? All of that "your ancestors fought and died for it" doesn't move me. How is it making my life better?

Dubois didn't want Black people to vote because he realized that neither party cares to help Black people even though they vote for them.

Tariq doesn't want Black people to vote because he's been paid by Republicans to suppress the Black vote.

So their goals are the same even though their motives are different.
Motives do not matter if they achieve the same goal. Political power is something you should never give up. If voting does not matter then Republicans would not work to suppress our vote. If voting did not matter Republicans would not engage in gerrymandering, The problem is in the lack of political organization/lobbying that would push or demand policies that would benefit black people truly, versus fringe issues and policies that contribute to dysfunction.

Name the major POTUS candidate that had a serious Black agenda that would have prevented or slowed our decline, or, in simple terms, who was there we needed to vote for? Black people vote en masse for the Democrats and we have zero to show for it. What was the point then?

Do you understand how unhinged and stupid this sounds? What was gained from having the same right to vote as white people...???

What other basic constitutional rights do you not give a shyt about because they don't relate to your economic focuses?

Tariq can only do what he does because people agree with what he saying. Neither party cares about black interests

Not nearly as unhinged and stupid as voting just because and getting zero out of the deal for 50 years. LGBT and animals have more rights and protections than Black people in that time.

What rights have LGBT people gained that black people do not have, name them. Because as I see it, they gained the right to marry - something black people have been able to do for centuries - and some basic rights against employment discrimination that mirror the protections other minorities have. You can't refuse to serve a black person in a restaurant for instance, or outright refuse to hire a black person specifically due to race. And the same applies to gay people.

This is gonna be my list response. It's clear to me you haven't thought any of this out.

Most people probably shouldn't vote if we're keeping it a buck.

Do you really think that was "voting", and not MLK, bus boycotting, mass protest, labor revolts, economic disruption, social unrest, Malcolm, etc.?

What has voting gotten Black people since the CIvil Right Act?
If voting could make your weak ass hair line respectable again, would you cast your vote:jbhmm:

It was a joke!
  • No one who posts here would survive in Jim Crow era-America
  • No one who posts here would take the time to stage boycotts, sit-ins, etc.
  • OP is clearly ignoring historical context
  • Third parties aren't a threat: the socialist, bull moose, and progressive parties he mentioned are long gone and
  • In 2023, the Republicans are the direct descendants of the Lily-White/Goldwater faction of the GOP
  • Democrats, at least some of them, actually give a shyt about regular people...what does the GOP offer you?

They have hate crime laws that are actually ENFORCED. They a protected class. Save one or two outliers, it's still easy to harm or kill Black people with impunity.

Also, all that discrimination you mentioned still happens, they just have to be creative.
