Apparently Every Rapper ever old stuff is better and everything they put out in life after that sucks.
Yeah OK. I think it's cliche to say that. It is something people say so they can sound smart. It is something you say when you don't have taste in music or can't keep up with what's hot.

there's always exceptions to the rule but in most cases it's true. there's lots of artists that are making great music but there's always a lot of nostalgia mixed in with the music.

Most artists put their everything into their first album. Then they get paid a little, get a little celeb status going on, and the hunger and drive is lost compared to when they were a nobody.

i think also, when you think about it, most rappers put their all into their first album and it's 20 years or more in the making. 15-20 years of experiences packed into one album. these days they have 1 year to make new experiences (at most if you don't put out any mixtapes), most of that time they're touring and promoting the first album etc. back in the day there was 2-3 years between albums and a lot of rappers didn't make shytloads of money on that first album so they stayed in the hood and had more life experiences. so they had more time and experiences packed into each album.

Yeah
No, let's not, stop it.

That's a persons right to have an opinion and most artist first album are the best work because it took them however how many years to have life experiences to make it.

Huhh? Your life experiences grow as you get older though so by that logic your 2nd, 3rd, 4th Albums should be better.

if your experiences are just touring, fukkin bytches and getting drunk/high and you're putting out mixtapes and albums every 6 months or sometimes less then the music gets stale and repetitive which is what a lot of people complain about these days.

Like with Nas. His 2nd album It Was Written was Flames!!! But no "the I like his old stuff better" heads want to claim he sold out. Yeah OK.

It's OK for Artist to be financially compensated for their work. It is not bad.

Who are these rappers? Specifically ?
Most rappers in their early twenties or mid twenties will have a kid, relationship issues, financial issues to grow through, traveled the world, met other important celebs etc.

you don't think a lot of rappers talk about getting high and fukkin chicks a lot of the time? you don't think these cats who are dropping tapes every other month are running out of shyt to say? i'm not saying taking your time automatically equals a better album but i think it can help a lot.

well to be honest, its not a cliche for most rappers.. not to the point where everything they put out after their 1st album is wack, but as time passes rappers music tend to get worse after they hit their popularity peak

look at eminem, wayne, 50, jay, cam
