A white boy can learn everything there is to know about being culturally black in an hour of reading this site and some subreddits. This whole “ black culture” shyt is dead. They didn’t steal it either we sold it to them. Some of these culture vultures speak better slang than some black folk too. Wouldn’t be surprised if a white person saying nikka was normalized 20 years from now.
Just like you :gladbron:

Yawl just read the title then rush to comment huh?

What do you propose to stop "vultures"?

Black people don't live in a pocket dimension where we move about unseen by the rest of the world. Everything is seen by everyone, and everything we do or innovate will eventually work it's way into mainstream culture.

This topic again...

Correct culture is not something that is copied because it's cool or lucrative.

It's solidarity amongst your own and a code of living that is based in order, logic, and prosperity. It's an intimate understanding of where you come from and the importance of unity.

Black Empowerment
You're looking at this the wrong way OP.

Black people in this country have almost never owned our culture. From music to fashion to hair to art to literature to food. There was only small window of time in the early 20th century where we actually owned and profited off our own creations.

The internet just made it easier to create an awareness for others to consume and replicate our culture. We have always been on a corporate plantation where someone else is profiting from our genius. The reason we stay on that plantation is because we also have a culture of short term thinking and sacrificing the long term legacy for the short term cash. Our biggest issue cultural is an unwillingness to sacrifice short discomfort for a long term elevation of ourselves as a group.

....
so black culture is just slang and fashion now?

we should focus on greatness again like MJ (either one), Prince, James Brown, Coltrane, Miles, Toni Morisson, James Baldwin, etc.

cacs can copy "cool" easily but it's not as easy to copy black excellence. It's gotten easier to copy black folk because the last 20 years has been a general decline into mediocrity.
