The largest lobby in Washington is the military industrial complex, not to mention the countless other industries with a large lobbying presence that are benefactors of war, the American oligarchy needs war at this point... and i love the notion of our resources, i doubt you personally own any resources. Your power is an illusion.

That's fundamentally why democracy and capitalism contradict each other because in a capitalist society the metric of power is financial wealth, yet in a democratic society you delegate your democratic/imaginary powers to elected representatives who will make decisions on your behalf but in reality your democratic/imaginary power holds no weight thus these officials are wings to the whims of those with the real power, so all you end up doing is electing a talking head who puts the demands of oligarchs in to nice PR friendly packages for the masses to digest.
