Even if Perk never said anything, Jokic wasn't winning the MVP award anyway.

That was already a decision made by voters subconsciously before last season had even begun. No player since the 80s (Larry Bird) has won 3 straight MVPs and the reason for that is to keep a balance of parity. Say what you want about that perspective but it keeps the league balanced and fair. There's a reason why MJ (the greatest player of all time especially during the '90s) didn't win MVP every year of that decade when he arguably could've.

If Embiid wasn't the winner and didn't have the season that he had last year, another player in the top MVP voting would've won over Jokic, now since Joker didn't win this past season, the voters could reward him similar to LeBron when he didn't win his 3rd straight MVP during 2010-2011 season but instead went on to win the next two ('11-'12 & '12-'13).

Nah, Perk flipped the narrative.

As a result, Jokic was the runaway leader in the second edition of ESPN's NBA MVP Straw Poll of the 2022-23 season, registering 77 out of 100 first-place votes and finishing with 913 total points, putting him in prime position to make history at season's end.

Former NBA players and now ESPN analysts Kendrick Perkins and JJ Redikk had gone back and forth earlier on the show, with Stephen A. Smith moderating, where the former NBA star suggested that the voters have inconsistent criteria for the award, which he says favors white players. Redikk responded by saying a flaw of "First Take" is that hot takes like Perkins' are encouraged without evidence.

Nah Jokic proved he should’ve won MVP but Embiid and his fans turned the race into something toxic so he got his diversity day award and quickly turned into a pumpkin and got eliminated without much resistance

ESPN isn't the only one voting and secondly never mind what Perk said, Jokic was not winning his 3rd straight, regardless. It was already decided (subconsciously) before the season began, that someone else would've won over Jokic to keep parity in favor.

Tatum, Mitchell, Luka, etc. Voters would've put someone else in the #1 conversation if not Embiid. People using Perks comments are just playing the old reverse racism game because they're in denial that Jokic wasn't going to win because of what I previously stated about parity.

That's just how it is. LeBron never won 3 straight, Jordan never won 3 straight, Steve Nash never, Steph either, and many other all-time greats so what makes Jokic untouchable and THE ONE for voters to go against the grain?

Jokic was on his way to 3 straight MVP’s until Perkins mentioned race. That shifted the narrative. The optics would’ve looked bad if in a league of majorly black players that a white man won 3 straight MVP’s since the last time where another white man did it.

Embiid deserved it last year he was by far the best player in the league. Now that he got that out of the way maybe he can not go so hard in the regular season and pace himself for the playoffs.

A month can change a lot. The race card being thrown around in here, instead of folks merely just giving Embiid credit for putting his foot on the gas towards the end of the season, while Jokic coasted, is pretty wild narrative. Even the few nuggets fans in here admitted Jokic coasted while Embiid was still putting up some of the greatest big man stats(not empty stats neither) en route to gettitn his team a slightly better record than Denver. How was Jokic robbed?

Even if this was true, how does it correlate to Jokic getting robbed?
Nah. You don't maintain poor practice. My favorite player should have 5 in a row in a real time frame I could follow but I'm not sitting here saying Jokic shouldn't cause he didn't.

Yes Jokic was the guy to change that for, because he was the guy in position to do it and deserved it.
Why did Jokic deserve it over Embiid? And how did Embiid winning it over Jokic mean Jokic was robbed? Give me a good answer.

Yeah, I didn't think Jokic was the MVP or even the best player in the league, but I honestly let him being white and unathletic in the traditional sense cloud my judgement. I was wrong as hell on all fronts.

Jokic had a historic offensive season in general and particularly at the center position in both box stats and scoring efficiency from all ranges or scoring. Of course leading his team to a #1 seed. Deep supporting cast but 0 All-Stars.

He also did not cry to the media and have players turned media figures campaigning for him to get the award just to turn into 7 foot Harden when his team needed an MVP the most. And yes, that matters.
