Currently reading Lawrence Otis Graham's Our Kind of People. Classism and old Guard colorism aside, those old and new societies of black professionals made a distinction between 'nouveau riche' wealthy black athletes/entertainers and themselves and when you break it down, it comes to ownership.

Most of the most famous athletes and entertainers are employees. Millionaires yes but employees. For most guys in the leagues (especially nfl), they step out of line they're done. Average career is less than three years anyway even for top draft picks.

Entertainers we can see what happens when they don't slob the right knobs or companies get tired of them.

Black lawyers, tech industry folks, medical professionals etc. That own their own shyt largely aren't dependent on their bodies, media, or even being liked.

Kaepernick has leveraged his movement just as he was supposed to, and personally, I stopped giving most sports my viewership a long time ago.

Kaepernick imo gave them too much power. Asking for his job back was spineless imo.

Even Charlamagne was saying he’s bigger than football now to even be asking for acceptance

The NFL said black people were naturally mentally inferior and nikkas still watch it. The optics of sports itself, black players and white coaches, and owners, should've let people know what time it was but nikkas don't care. They won't until more players make a stand

Just the way NFL coaches talk to players as if they're living out plantation dreams just never sat well with me. You see that shyt in the south in youth football and high school level and you know something is just off about it.

Yea been stopped watching sports seriously. It’s bread and circus. Many ppl don’t have they house in order but watch men run around for hours who get paid 100 years worth your salary to play a kids game. Knowing dudes height and weights, and talking about quad sizes???

Americas lust with being consumers brought us here.. Sports was cool when it was just T.V scheduled games, a 30 minute ESPN sports segment afterwards, and reading a sports illustrated..

Now its 24/7 in your face with these entertainers.. All of that took away from the enjoyment of sports..
They even talk about youth league and high schools all day on YouTube. You got punk schools like IMG trying to imitate Alabama at the high school lvl.
