Not only that he was talking to his girls mom and you know he big on respecting "mothers" in general.

Bend in doesn't mean change totally. He made it, there is no need to blend in, that statement is for workers who are still trying to get money to live in this world.

Also, for the people saying he always sounded like that when talking to white people, that isn't true. I remember the change around 2006/2007, when he was working on the graduation album. Every year after that his voice got more, and more, white sounding. I think the stress of his mother dieing and blacks calling him gay, put too much stress on him, and made him want to be like the people he was around that was progressive, and that was white people since he was with them a lot to make the graduation album.

But it's not just the nasal tone, he pronounces words like a tender white guy. All white guys don't sound like that, which is why I think he is imitating the people he hangs around that he admires, and most of them are probably "soft" white guys who are artistic.

No he doesn't, he sounds like a white person(not a dis to whites) with a more nasal tone. You can speak proper english without changing your accent. I like Kanye but, I think he has mental issues. People with mental issues usually change they way they talk when they get in certain situations. That, and his behavior, makes me think something is a little off with kanye.

Come on man, I can change my tone NOT my accent. If I'm from NYC, I don't start talking like I'm from cali when I'm around people like you just because you come from there. I might say buster or something but, I won't change my whole way of sounding. Kanye is doing what people do who have some type of mental issue, I've seen it before. I'm not dissing him but, it's something I noticed.

If he was younger I may say it's his surroundings since your brain is still forming but, he just started doing this, which makes me think something is wrong. I think he is just emulating people who he gives honor to, he is just doing it a little too much.

I never heard of the average person just changing their voice based on where they are living. I know people form the south who may get a ny accent but, that southern accent is still in the background and this is after YEARS of living there. Kanye started this change in 2006/2007. When he was with the ROC he never started sounding like a nyc/philly cat, so why is he sounding like a feminine white guy now. I think when his mother died the stress hurt him bad and the people he was around, impacted him so much for the better that he started becoming them with the style of dress to the way of talking. Even changing his music. I'm not hating on him though, I think he needs to figure out what's wrong because if he keeps doing this it can turn into a negative.

San Diego is transplant city and none of these red sox and yankee hat rocking dudes have an accent at all out here. Ive seen accents disappear in less then a summer

how many people on TV do you know sound southern unless that's the role they are playing? I've lived in LA (hollywood) my whole life, there's no way you're making it in the biz unless you switch up. You cant go on TV sounding like you straight from the swamps of Mississippi barefoot with a banjo. Nor can you network with that accent, it just doesnt work. You learn to adapt to get ahead socially, and changing up your accent to blend in is very very common.

when Im in england, esp larger social ]settings, I find myself SUBCONSCIOUSLY hiding my accent. Its just what humans do, we are very very adaptable creatures. The more I talk and the more I notice they pause to listen to me, the more I get more insecure and start to hide my american accent (of course they can still tell im american, its subconscious so theres slips and gaps every where), this is what happens to folks when they come to LA. This happens to everyone. Europeans like germans and north europeans are real good at it when they come to America.

He never switched his accent up with the ROC because chicago and tri-state arent really THAT far apart, some places dont have a night and day, I mean what is an arizona accent? colorado accent? washington accent? they are HOURS away from cali, but I couldnt point them out if they came over.
