2nd round picks are easily acquirable, you seem to be overvaluing them.

:stopitslime:

Sure they were when you could just straight up buy them. They are super valuable to the teams taking on salary. Since the Knicks wont be taking on salary anytime soon and might not have first rounders in 2 of the next 3 years what does that leave them with?

They can still be bought.

I'm unsure what you are trying to say here, could you please be a bit more clear?

That first part should say buy them cheaply.

The Knicks won't be taking on salary anytime soon because their first priorities would be to get rid of the overvauled contracts of Amar'e and Bargs. Teams that are taking contracts off your hands want something in return - like first or second round picks. Hence, the Knicks are going to have to do some slick dealing to either stock up on lots of picks or start letting future firsts go to fix mistakes (again).

Denver and Toronto have rights on the Knicks 1st rounders in 2017. Not 2 of the next 3 years, my fault.

Now who else wanna fukk with Hollywood Court?
2nd round picks are valuable as trade chips. The contracts are also super cheap for the value you can get. Not having them is a pretty bad thing if you also have to wait on cap space. This means the rebuild isn't gonna start for some time without luck and great cap magic. I'm not trusting Phil with that.

2nd round picks are pretty easy to buy, they have their first rounders which is all that matters.

The Knicks have caproom this summer and their first round picks for the foreseeable future, they can be rebuilt if Dolan doesn't get in the way. I think Phil would have let Melo walk, but he got pressured into resigning him by that moron.

They need to build their frontcourt, look around the NBA and see just how valuable a solid frontcourt is.

At the rate we are going, we can hopefully end up Okafor or Towns. I'd like to think Philly will draft Mudiay (which would increase our chances of getting either of the two) but I guess you never know with Hinkie. On draft night, he had me on the edge of my seat thinking that he was about to trade MCW. :dead:

I agree that Towns or Okafor need to be the pick for them, yeah Mudiay looks good but the NBA is just loaded with PGs and they could probably sign one or trade for one. On the other hand, big men are just so hard to get in the NBA now and teams typically ask for a kings ransom for them.

Take Towns or Okafor, make a run at Robin Lopez, Reggie Jackson, Brandon Knight, Goran Dragic and KJ McDaniels, try and trade Iman for a 1st rounder (:russ: that ship probably sailed) or to a team that needs a two and has a surplus of bigs (John Henson).

Basically the Knicks need to forego the idea of landing a big name free agent and try to build around Melo and their draft pick by using free agency to add depth.

I need to add this, what they do in the offseason should be centered around whether or not it's Towns or Okafor they get.

Towns to me is going to be a 4 in the NBA, so pairing him with a center like Lopez would be a good start.

Okafor is going to be an 5 that struggles on defense, so targeting 4's in trades that can block shots like Henson would be the way to go.
