It's not even a nation wide thing, its a county thing. A house 2 1/2 times mine's value on other side of town would pay only about 40% more

im also in a suburb..which is reasonably taxed compared to most of the rest of the state

I was about to ask, what kinda fukkin houses y’all talking about with 12k in taxes?

But then I realized this was likely Cali or NY folks where land is expensive as fukk. I pay 3300 a year, and nice areas around here would be about 5-6k a year on a 200k house

$13k ain't so bad considering it's california. i'm at $5k and good thing i have homestead exemption and the save our homes cap or else it would have been much higher. i have a neighbor who doesn't have homestead exemption and a similar market value as mine and their property taxes were around $9k.
