I think it can. Rewatched it a couple weeks ago and it’s kinda sloppy. Which everyone involved spoke to. Damon and Bruce didn’t get along, tony and Shane didn’t quite see eye to eye and parts of the movie for me just feel weird and out of place.

I think if you tighten it up, and really lean into the detective shyt and satirize something else, like the nice guys did or kiss kiss bang bang, then it can work. Shane is a better writer now than he was in his 20s and has a better grip on the private eye noir shyt he loves so much. And having two guys on screen who actually like each other helps.

i just don't see how they could remake it... the script is genius and Damon Wayans and Bruce Willis are great actors. Who they gonna have play Joe Hallenbeck with the same charisma as Bruce?

This scene alone shyts on entire movies nowadays and it's one of those forgotten flicks. The whole movie is packed with classic one liners and it never once seemed like it was trying too hard.

I miss movies of old when men were men and there wasn't any of this 'safe' bullshyt.

Some of The dialogue felt fake to me at times. I still laughed at the “big for the art world” line after Damon’s drawing is destroyed.
