It works for the story they want to tell with the 7 episodes they got to tell it (I hope Zaslav becomes a spore factory).

People would have been bytching big time if she got left at the theater the whole time. Why not just split Bog Ellie’s duties in half. That way she doesn’t have to talk to herself out loud to explain lore, or read through a bunch of notes and diaries like we did.

The game, though we had all the time in the world to explore, felt like a race to the big singularity at times (the theater “meeting”). The tension came from the unknown. Even though we knew we wouldn’t miss out on Abby. The story, atmosphere, and distractions did a good job of giving us that feeling in the back of our mind. People may have been frustrated if they did it game style with an hour episode. The show condenses it all but still kind of slows shyt down by filling the empty space with Dinah-Ellie dialogue.

I thought they handled the Seraphites encounter perfectly.
I also think some gamers (not necessarily the people we are quoting btw) can't wrap their heads around the fact that a TV show doesn't have infinite lives for its characters and you can't replay a scene over and over until you survive and have killed a bunch of people.

The Seraphites encounter has to be short because we can't have Ellie (or Dina, or Jesse) get caught and start killing a bunch of people to survive -or go ninja stealthy and kill 10 scars with a knife-, we can't even have her take a bullet or an arrow like the game either.

A lot of the encounters and sections you play in the game can't be a 1 to 1 because it would be fukking ridiculous for a TV show setting, so they gotta find ways to fill the gaps with other stuff and speed things up when they do adapt the same sections from the game.

You're fine with the shytty ass writing like, "I'm going to be a dad!?!" I think a majority of the audience enjoyed S1-S5 of Game of Thrones because it followed the source material which was great. The changes the show made during those seasons were good too for the most part. S6 and S7 of GOT makes me wary of anything HBO puts out using their own creative license. House of Dragon S2 was straight ass too.

The changes from the source material on TLOU so far make no sense / were done poorly. It's frustrating seeing something you enjoyed being b*stardized.

:why:
I’ve ran through both games, multiple times and have yet to give a fukk about any of this “bad writing”. I just want to enjoy the show/experience and so far I am. If I was that bothered by it I’d just stop watching and run through part 2 again. I’m sure those who never played DEFINITELY don’t give a fukk. The show is doing just fine as it is.

I took that as a joke delivered in Ellie’s typical deadpan fashion.

It was funny.

Only folks seem that seem to have a problem with it are white Reddit manosphere, Andrew Tate watching bros…

nikkas are just so triggered by the insinuation of anything gay they are blind to it

last weeks episode was actually really good and over the course of the week someone put a battery in people backs about that one line that escalated into the episode being terrible.

I'm not homophobic or anti-LGBTQ whatsoever, you imbeciles :dahell:

I just recognize Bella Ramsey's poor acting/sarcasm/portrayal in S2. She did fine in S1, but she's clearly the weak link of this current season. The writing isn't doing her any favors either because she's getting outshined by a sidekick ass character in Dina being played by a much better actress.

I don’t like how they’re doing Seattle but I know the game is hard to recreate so I wonder what non-gamers think about this season?

The game was just too good and in depth.

they did everything right setting up the spores....

and they still couldn't execute the Nora Ellie scene properly. they really have to sell that Ellie is this psychotic scary thing twisted by revenge. They just had her hit Nora twice. Nah in the game she beats the fukk outta her to death

I still think the show is ok, nothing special. Same as it was last season. Episode 2 this season still remains the best of the series. Tonight’s episode (all jokes aside). My only complaint is at some point it felt like they were encounter hopping, and it was a little jarring to me as someone who played, and loves TLOU2. The show is still good enough for me to tune in every Sunday. And I like seeing what they decide to change, and keep the same.

When it’s all said and done. I think this show won’t go down as one of HBO’s best tv show’s. Most people will look back and say they did some things better, and they did some things worse (assuming they played the game). I think most will say the show was good not great. Simple as that.
