Honestly, the show didn't go far enough with Joel's shock/anger at Ellie being a lesbian.
Joel is a Latino Texan man that grew up during the '70s and '80s. Joel would probably NEVER accept Ellie being a lesbian.

The episode was excellent and the acting was dope too
I've never played the games so I'm not really against the casting against Bella because ivr never seen another iteration , the character is incredibly irritating but that's seemingly what they've gone for .
It's episodes like this that is likely why she was cast in the first place, that shyt really hit home in terms of the bond and love between the two, it's palpable and believable

TBH I didn't really like them equating Joel to his father with the whole do better line. Joel dad beat the shyt outta his kids, meanwhile all Joel did was save her life and get mildly irritated that she was 17 getting tatted, smoking weed and dyking it up all at once

Well, no, that's the point. Joel did "a little better" than his father in terms of parenting. He didn't abuse Sarah, and while he got angry at Ellie for doing "all the teenage sh!t all at once", he never hit her either.TBH I didn't really like them equating Joel to his father with the whole do better line. Man that second half is gonna have such a different tenor with knowing why they did what they did.
