Man that second half is gonna have such a different tenor with knowing why they did what they did. I don’t wanna say they should’ve kept that part on wraps longer until I see what other changes it leads to, but I don’t feel right knowing the show runners do legit want me to empathize with Abby day one

They’re subtracting the emotional journey from the audience following the characters by laying out Abby’s character and motivations before you even see who she is.

They gonna have to get their Gunna pen on to write their way outta this one.

I’m still on board tho

I think they’ve done a pretty good job of creating emotional scenes and moments. Bill stuff, the brother and his lil brother, the show-only Jackson being overwhelmed stuff. I don’t think any of this Eugene stuff was in the game, but I understand this episode to be Neil-led, so it may not count for some.

Gonna need an INCREDIBLE acting job from Abby’s crew

There’s still gonna be flashbacks (a ton of them) in general from this point on. Not trying to come on some spoiler tip, bc I honestly don’t remember if Joel makes an appearance in any capacity from this point on in the game, but I wouldn’t be shocked if breh flashed in the sky to Ellie during S4 on some Goku end of DBZ shyt lol.

it taking two years to come out
This is the biggest risk to me. I think the Bella shyt may be overhated (I do definitely think people do not feel satisfied with the hole presented with no Joel), but it's gonna be hard to ask people to get back hype 2 years later knowing they not only aren't getting Joel, but probably aren't getting an answer to whatever we get at the end of this episode for weeks even after S3 starts.

Back in the old days, you would've just had 1. longer seasons 2. treated this shyt like a midseason finale. THIS is where the new version of TV and how long everything it is artificially hurts shows.

Even with midseason shyt, it's because they shot the whole season already, in most cases, they just delayed shyt for ratings/financial reasons.

Hopefully with The Pitt being a big hit, more shows follow suit. 15 episodes, and shyt will be coming back in less than a year in January.

I think some of this shyt is just writers/creatives just spreading themselves too thin and trying to juggle too many projects at once. They really shouldve been shooting S3 now, no reason to wait, you know you getting renewed. I also dont know why they didnt just shoot this shyt back to back. Now mazin talking about they gonna need a S4 to tell the full story and I dont think WBD going for that shyt. They just cut off 2 episodes from HotD S2 and that show way more popular than TLoU :francis:
