IGN are noted retards. Despite what I think about the show (and ESPESCIALLY Ellie's casting) this episode pretty much followed the game to a letter. Even us purists can't be too upset. I really thought HBO was gonna keep Joel alive due to his popularity and affinity the new fans had for the character.

With how slow she was initially climbing down and how big that hill was, no way she was gonna be able to get down there for closer look thru her scope….and damn sure wasn’t gonna be able to cut them off in time….as they were on horse back. Sloppy emotional decision.

She was just trying to get closer for a closer look. I doubt she would try to do anything physical. Probably wouldve went down, saw it was a man and a girl(I think she knew Joel traveled with a girl) and made note of where they were heading.

5 years of being dedicated to seeking revenge, but nothing done to even build back up even a semblance of a medical / science team…..knowing that your dad was working on a possible cure
I mean I get it, revenge and destruction is a simpler objective but

How would a 19 year old girl organize any of that? She doesnt have any resources. So why would other scientists/medical ppl who are probably 30+ years old follow her? You need very specific doctors and scientists who specialize in that specific surgery and have a background in making a cure.

Then that's not even taking into account word spreading that one man, took out 20-30 ppl and basically caused the collapse of the fireflies. Scientists not gonna be jumping at the chance of going against Joel.

They spent damn near two decades of hiding their identity, and all of a sudden, surrounded by a bunch of strangers are going to tell them their actual names

Naughty dog knew this was a humongous mistake in their writing. That’s why they switched it out with the this HBO show

Pandering to the gamers

Naw IGN have been rage baiting their tv show reviews for a while. They gave The Penguin season a 5 and the Invincible finale like a 4, just to name a few.

It’s because Ellie is an orphan so people can feel comfortable talking crazy since Joel is only her adoptive father. Ellie is underage. She can’t consent

Joel is a courier hired to take her from point a to point b, that doesn't create a guardianship relationship.

Not gonna hold yall, playing as Abby in the game kinda attaches you to her character. By the end I was digging her more than Ellie

Yall in here arguing who is right and who is wrong...and that is a prime example of why the writing failed the game and kinda the show too. Which is the source of all the controversy in the game.

The point of this was supposed to be, nobody is right. But that seems lost on everyone which shows they didn't convey that well at all. I think the show tried to fix that by explaining Abby's motives early on but it didn't seem to work.

From Joel's perspective he was the hero and the fireflies were villains. From Abby's perspective the fireflies were the heroes trying to save everyone and Joel was a villain. From Ellie's perspective she's now the hero and Abby and her crew are the villains. But everybody only sees Abby as a piece of shyt so it all backfired.... again

Thats what makes it good and why every Last of Us thread, comment section, video, and tons of expose exist.

you say it doesn’t work, but it clearly does seeing the amount of people watching the show, and playing the games. It’s probably sonys biggest media property at the moment. People getting mad at each other and Arguing is proof the writing is good because there’s no definitive answer. People wouldn’t invest so much energy into this if they didn’t have attachment to the characters or writing.

Episode was flames. Loved the addition of the attack on Jackson and they did a great job capturing the emotions during Joel’s death.
