Did you play the games? Trying to cram all that shyt into 3 movies would be a terrible idea
I didn’t play the games. But watching the show, it just doesn’t seem like the payoff for a beat by beat remake is worth the squeeze. This season was a drag. Seeing the spoilers, im just like condense this shyt. I’m probably biased as a non game player but I feel like a movie would be more effective. Some of this stuff is dope for a game but not necessary for a retelling imo

Just like the game, everyone has completely different complaints about the show

I already mentally separated the show from the game when season 1 started.

I’m just enjoying the story as they tell it with no expectations. It doesn’t affect the magic I experienced with the game at all. I already know that if I want to see the story as it was meant to be, I can just fire up the ps5.

I’ve been dying at the arguments and complaints lol. This same shyt is going to happen when GTA 6 drops. Some brehs have already convinced themselves that all kinds of bullshyt is going to be in it lol.

t-dot till they bury me
Never played the game
Season 1 was so much better
This season sucks
Ellie, Abby are not equipped to do what they are showing them do (Solid Snake, Commando type actions)

Why would I be invested in watching an Abby season? She's had what, 20 kins on screen time this season?

Not coming back for S3

As someone that played the games, I don't think many of us can grasp this. Lot of viewers might have no interest in watching a show following Abby, and for good reason. Hell a lot of people are already bailing without Pedro

Yeah
I'm not buying this Abby shyt
Maybe if I played the game I'd have an appreciation for her character
But from what they've shown, I don't get how/why she's 'winning' so far

She completed her mission (kill Joel) in such a convenient manner, in record time
She got the drop on Tommy (in the theatre), by herself...?
And killed Jesse

She hasn't shown any type of skill that would warrant such impactful actions here

Maybe I'm missing something, but this show/season is average at best

The Last Of Us is a story that hinges on big themes.

The first game and first season were about love, the (crazy) lengths people go for the ones they love. The TV show was able to pull it off in an awesome way by retelling and adapting that theme by givings Joel & Ellie's journey plus secondary tales that were expertly done.

The second game and second season is about revenge. And this is when shyt gets tricky. Revenge is much more difficult to pull off, it's why the game is much longer and why it had more detractors than the first one. It took the player to places it was not comfortable to be in. But in the end, the majority of people were able to appreciate the journey ND took them.

The TV show has done a really poor job of developing the revenge theme while at the same time, going 1 for 1 with a ton of events, encounters and sequences from the game, so there's an obvious disconnect there. They trying to do the same thing while not taking as much care of the characters and their motivations. Ellie is the biggest example. In the game it's not only you as the player that wants her to start this revenge path, it's her whole close circle (Tommy, Dina and Jesse), and you have a really good understanding as to why she's going on this dumb ass suicide revenge mission (what Joel meant to her and to you as the player).

This season's biggest weakness was showing Ellie's motivation and making the audience understand her actions. The worst part of the show were the scene where she's nothing but a bumbling teenager that doesn't know what she is doing while putting her loved ones in huge danger (and getting rightfully scolded by them). TV show Ellie goes constantly changes from clueless to revenge driven and you never get to really hear or see what's really going on with her. The writing doesn't let her breathe and take in anything, she just goes from one extreme to the other because the plot has to move forward because we are on a budget and we have to wrap shyt up :sadcam:

If they decided to go with a more "realistic teenager" Ellie, then they also had to come up with much more solid writing around her than just making her go through the same sequences she does in the game. There's a lack of character exploration with her that hurts her as a MC.

Yep, the fidelity is so high in the games that you don’t even feel like you’re missing anything. It’s not like adapting a ps2 game where you can finally see how the characers would really act. The game has better writing, acting, and ability to convey the characters emotional states than the tv show. I‘ve been saying since season 1 that it felt like the show was always trying to keep up with the games for me.

I think tv in general is just a lesser experience due to the limitations of time, interactivity, and budget. Like it’s almost certain people are gonna be dissapointed with the Rat King in the tv show as well. Either its gonna look ”too fake” for tv watchers or not scary enough for gamers.

Now this is a surprising take

He played the hell out of the role. He’s not quite as playful or brotherly as he is in the game. I felt like the show Jessie really sold the desperation to get home, and the intensity of the encounters they had. I enjoyed game Jessie as a character, but show Jessie is as human and he is a killer with responsibilities.
