This guy makes a good point, not going to lie

They were hot when they started and that kind of plateaued or fell off a bit until they got hot again in 2021 with all the new people debuting (Cole, Danielson, Punk, etc) and that kind carried thru until All In 2023, though there were some ups and downs during that time.

Almost all the talent that are largely responsible for AEW being hot now have been there for long enough that any momentum from them simply debuting should be long gone at this point.

I think my hot AEW take is this current run they’re on is the first time they’ve truly been good entirely on their own merit. No founding momentum, no monthly debuts and jumps - just a great core roster delivering reliably great TV every week.

Mercedes is on another level right now in so many categories. GOAT women's wrestler.

Toni is just about the only woman in that generation with a legitimate shot when they've all hung them up of being better.

They're both in their prime, both at the peak of their powers and before this feud had stayed completely separate in AEW.

They're fighting in 10 days and the build hasn't missed a fukking beat.

Hating any of this shyt seems like such hard fukking work right now. It's a generational dream match.

I got confidence in them, but they've really gotta hit this one.

I just prefer the story. Maybe she does finally get it, but only after dropping the TBS and going through a bit of a spiral dropping some/all of the others.

She couldn't have it ALL.

Can see both sides. Both make compelling future storylines. Toni a 3 time champ, so if she loses I think she may have to take a step back & let rest of the division cook. Not like she can't be champ again but no need to repeat the Mariah thing with Mercedes. The inability of Mercedes to get the main title while acquiring all the others is a good story tho. Have her lose all those & come crashing down to be built back up & eventually win it. Both gonna be fine tho no matter the result.
