If these wannabe podcasters/talking heads did ten seconds of research they'd see that Tony Khan said he was doing the ECW Arena to pay homage and that his dad took him there when he was a kid. Tony was even showing off pics of the last time he was in the building.

After 6 years they still don't get that Tony was a big wrestling fan and that's why he started this company :mjlol:

They don't want to because it would possibly paint AEW in a positive light and that doesn't get views/clicks.

Was talking to the Mrs about this while we were watching - nobody ever points out that it's fine for AEW to have a different budget model to WWE.

WWF/E has always sold tickets whether they were on TV or not and it was always traditionally a core part of their profit model... AEW, Lucha Underground, WCW (for the most part) are not the same. They're TV shows and they're core funding comes from TV people, not wrestling carnies. TV people don't give a shyt about tickets and houses. They gave that up with the theatres. Crowds are usually just a prop in TV. If they need one they'll bring in a "live studio audience" for free and beg them to laugh at the right moments.

How many tickets did HBO sell to watch the finale of Game of Thrones being filmed? How much do people pay to see Colbert film the Late Show? Having a TV show you can get ANYONE to pay to come out and watch be filmed on a Wednesday night is a hell of a thing.

Nerds already worked out the TV deal and the bigger event gates are making AEW profitable, so everything else is just icing.

Tony's finally got his dream fed working, just let the rich weirdo cook.

I think some people are just being obtuse or maybe they don't remember, WWE used to do residencies all the time. AEW at 2300 is a residency. What that means is they are paid to go there and it's probably not that much but they save money on production costs. Running bigger arenas costs a lot of money in production costs. So Tony gets to go to ECW Arena and run two shows and it costs nothing to do it.

WWE has even done this for 'WrestleMania' in the past with the Trump Plaza and the first time they went to Vegas, among many other residency deals

No transport/touring costs for weeks has to be worth a bit... I don't know what else 2300 has going on, but they probably save having to tear down after every show too especially when they're doing two on the bounce like with the ROH PPV and Collision.

Judging by Taz's comment and TK's reaction on the tribute clip about AEW having a lot of money compared to ECW, I think everyone's feeling just fine about the dollars side of business. They got Like A Prayer money for Honor Club out this bytch :yeshrug:

With the TV deals they signed and some of the live gates they've done, 2025 is by far the most profitable year AEW has had. I think Tony Khan would have kept this promotion going regardless but after they became profitable everything he spends is just fukk you money :russ:

Listening to more of Jake Hager's interview with CVV. This mf is so delusional. "I'm an undefeated MMA fighter, but..." :dead:

Mf pitched a Groot gimmick where he only says "I like this hat" and everyone knows what he's talking about. Then he complains how he has to wait around to talk to Tony Khan and how he didn't want to extend his contract :laff:

It'd be hilarious if this is the breaking point for TK regarding re-signing and bringing back Jericho :mjlol:
