Another promoter praising Mercedes. :manny:

Shaukat (founder of APAC Wrestling) on how the match Mercedes Moné vs Nor 'Phoenix' Diana match come about, starting with a fan posting on social media, and what it achieved.

Shaukat:

"MY APAC Wrestling Women’s Champion. Mercedes Moné.
It’s surreal to see someone of her stature holding the championship I created, designed, and built — carrying the APAC Wrestling brand on a global stage.
Most people don’t know this, but everything started back in July. A fan tweeted saying they wanted to see Nor “Phoenix” Diana defend her championship against Mercedes. Diana replied — and soon after, so did Mercedes. That simple exchange went viral. Even when I announced that the winner of Diana vs. Zayda Steel would defend the APAC Wrestling Women’s Championship against Mercedes, the buzz only grew.
And that’s when the idea truly clicked.
Nor Phoenix Diana is on another level. Anyone who understands the art and craft of pro wrestling at a higher level can see that — and can tell the difference. I knew the best way to showcase her talent was to put her against arguably the number one pro wrestler in the world, while elevating the prestige of the APAC Wrestling Women’s Championship.
I reached out to Mercedes and her team, and after months of talks, she almost flew to Malaysia for Reality Check as a surprise. We were so close, but the flights just couldn’t align at the last minute.
Still, we were determined to make it happen — and we did. The rest is history.
This moment achieved everything I hoped for:
• Nor Phoenix Diana reaching new heights, with millions around the world witnessing her greatness. • APAC Wrestling stepping onto the global stage and solidifying itself as a premier promotion. • And the number one women’s wrestler in the world becoming our champion.
Now the world gets to see Nor Phoenix Diana blaze forward in all her glory — and we have Mercedes Moné carrying our championship proudly across the globe.
APAC Wrestling is serious about elevating ourselves in the pro wrestling industry. We’ve made nothing but big moves, all while working to grow and develop our talent to meet industry standards and expectations. And this is just the beginning.
Take care of that title, champ. And thank you for doing this with us.

Mercedes doing anything with these small Indy companies is a big win for them and that should go without saying but unfortunately the internet is full of retarded nikkas who try to force deep analysis on any and everything

Some fans think they know more about a promotor's business than the promoter themselves. That's the shyt that be funny to me :mjlol:

shyt is crazy to me

Promotor: “Mercedes has been incredible! Our business has been up 600% since our relationship began. Can’t wait to have her again”

Random nikka with Roman Reigns avatar: “actually…”

The Swamp
I'm listening to the Tony Khan interview on Ariel Helwani's show. It's been a good listen. He's answered almost everything directly except for the status of Andrade :russ:

Helwani basically set him up to go after Bischoff and go after Punk, but Tony kept it civil. Ariel asked him about a lot of wrestlers like
- Edge (still under contract with AEW so he won't be a surprise return for Cena/WWE),
- Miro ("differing visions", he said something like Miro came from WWE and must've enjoyed his experience since he signed back with them :mjlol:),
- Britt Baker (said she's out for health reasons, he loves Britt as a person & performer and she will be back at some point),
- Jericho (just went on a tangent about how he likes Jericho and thanked him for his contributions to AEW, doesn't sound like he'll be back based on how direct he was about DMD),
- MJF (will be back soon),
- Ospreay (hopes he's back soon),
- Karrion Kross (hasn't talked to him in years, didn't sound like he was too interested),
- Adam Cole (doesn't think he'll wrestle again but if he can show he's healthy and the situation is right then he's open to letting him wrestle).

Helwani asked him about counterprogramming, TV ratings, HBO Max viewership, affordability of tickets and who contributes to booking too.

Edit - he also talked about pulling Ric Flair from Dynamite last week. He said Flair had a fall :flabbynsick:, tore his rotator cuff and was saying he wasn't feeling well. Tony said he didn't think it'd be good for Flair to go out on TV or be in the ring.

Edit 2 - Helwani asked him about the photo of Jade, Ricky, Punk and Cody. Tony was talking about how AEW is doing great right now :skip: He said when he saw the photo, it reminded him of a photo Moxley and Cody took together during the pandemic with the AEW & TNT titles. But he also said he could spend 2 hours talking about how much he likes all 4 of them.
