It would've helped if at some point he said enough is enough and pulled his endorsement. After the Khan fiasco, the beauty queen beef, or definitely after the p*ssy grabbing thing.

If he would've held a press conference and said "I can no longer in good conscience support Donald Trump" it would've went a long way. He could've afforded the political hit because he won't lose his Senate seat up there in left-leaning Wisconsin.

But he didn't so now he's married to Trump and has to own it.
i think that after trump gets crushed, the country is gonna step back and laugh off the campaign. maybe im wrong :yeshrug: but as much as hes embarassed the GOP, i dont see it being long lasting because there are only two options :heh: if it was a 3 party system it would be plausible that they fade away or some shyt, but they arent going anywhere

Who is beating her in 4 years?
Anybody halfway sane

The ONLY reason she is winning this year is because she's up against Trump

If Jeb! or Rubio were on the GOP ticket she would have been thoroughly washed.

How you figure if they couldn't beat Trump?
The Republican base is angry right now, they not feeling the milk toast 'sane' politicians. They want a pitchfork waver who is going to stick it to the darkies and put women back in their place. Between now and the next election it is going to be alt-right vs establishment Republicans. Will that battle be over by 2020? Will the Establishment Republicans even win that battle?

What makes you think Ryan's hasn't? He's endorsed Trump this whole time as House Speaker. If he runs, the DNC/Clinton machine will make Trump Ryan's running mate.

Trump has done serious lasting political damage to the GOP. Every Repub running for high office will have to own their support of Trump for a whole generation.

Kasich has never supported Trump, and he also has seemed to have escaped the wrath of Trump supporters

He would easily be their best bet for 2020

The question is whether he can get the nomination in the first place

like why did he get ZERO support like that? because he clearly, was, the second best choice. but it seemed like no one sees this dude as a president

I haven't been alive for very long, but I don't think I've ever seen someone more set up to be a one-term president than Hillary Clinton. :mjlol:

She has four years to salvage what's left of her reputation and hope that the Republicans implode again in 2020.
George W Bush will be the last Republican president. The only candidate that can beat the democrats is someone that's both Fiscally conservative and soft on immigration and social issue's. And the Republican primary voters will never nominate someone like that.

This is an outdated way of thinking. The Trump candidacy has proven that there are other ways to attack Hillary from both the right and the left. A Republican candidate may better serve the party by being economically liberal (fair trade, progressive taxation, minimum wage), but socially conservative (tougher immigration laws, morals, cops).

In other words, a candidate able to unite the Trump and Sanders camps into one populist ball of outrage could win in 2020.

Imagine a John Kasich type who takes a hard line on immigration.

The Republican base is separate from the alt-right, and your analysis of Trump's support base is needlessly simple and smug.

The forces behind Trump's support stem from:
- exclusion from the economic recovery (fukk U6, labor participation rate is it)
- Obama's foreign policy failures
- Obama's immigration policy failures + embrace of immigration criminals
- warranted mistrust in Hillary

The big folly of Trump's support base isn't that they are all bigots... it's that they think Trump has the mental and leadership capacity to turn the tides on trade, foreign policy, immigration and the general American economy. Just being able to call problems out doesn't qualify one to be president....

....just as being great at consolidating power and fostering a culture of propaganda and groupthink, as Hillary has done.

Bottom line, neither candidate is very good. It's a choice between a calculating megalomaniac + war hawk and a spoiled toddler.

I said they were separate and you are confusing Trump supporters with establishment Republicans.
Trump supporters are generally speaking bigots. Who is at these rallies? Wearing make America Great Again hats?

It's so fukking obvious that EVERYTHING above is going to happen. Especially, the Supreme Court pick. People think these neoliberals are going to nominate something other than neoliberals judges? She is going to pick some former corporate lawyer that has the correct social positions but is a corporate stooge and will wipe their ass with habeas corpus.

The comment I made about the supreme court pick is the one dude on her list. Thats his accomplishmentds. Indian guy, forget his name but goes by Sri.
