Promo consists of things that cost money. People watch commercials. They see billboards. These things work. Things with tangible results that can be calculated and translated into impressions and audience awareness.

Tweets are free and their value is still fairly nebulous. This entire thing was basically word of mouth.

If a person's "marketing" plan consists of no actual marketing, then acting like it somehow flopped is ludicrous.

what we do know as FACTS is that Tidal made a killing off it being exclusive for the first month and I'm sure Ye got a nice kickback from that. Also sure other streaming services threw money at Ye for him to release it to them because originally he said he wasn't.

150K is literally a bare minimum. They had a minimum of 250M streams and they'll never release how many guys bought it from his site. I think this would've went platinum in a conventional release though.

Okay some of yall in this thread are really stupid. TLOP is predicted to do 150k in streams, not in total sales. 150k in pure streams is actually a huge number! You can't buy it at digital outlets or a physical. This is a major W for Ye if this happens

i think nikkas are not realizing that physical CD sales still amounted for 49% of music sales in 2015... so imagine what he'd do if he dropped a cd... then add in that it's not for sale as a complete digital album either

With this not being his last album this year (two more to go supposedly), its possible this was just the teaser and he might eventually go for a conventional digital release.

I think he's pretty set on no CDs though (which is a shame because he's one of the top sellers period)
