Some of the kills and dialogue were cool. But its only so much you can do on a walk. Then you gotta suspend reality with them not losing weight and overall a ridiculous concept. Some of the actions of the black characters were just :snoop: and of course they gotta throw that 'genda in there. Saw it coming a mile away. Mark Hammill was dope. Main black dude was good. Its some good acting. But again, you're limited on a long walk. Didn't feel the ending either. I could have easily waited for this to stream. Its not bad but it ain't what the critics say either

I’m not a big fan of Stephen King based on the adaptations I’ve seen, but I was really fw this one all the way up until the end.

And I know what the ending of the book was.

But I may come around on it I’m still processing my feelings on it.

I hate that Pete went against his own morals to adopt Garraty’s (even tho I can’t say I disagree with his, I know Pete is objectively right). It ended up being all for nothing. The Major dies, someone replaces him, and the system continues. Pete’s money doesn’t go toward the disadvantaged he hoped to help. Honestly, Pete coulda been the culmination of Garraty’s pops’ lesson to him.

But at the same time, that was as bleak of an ending as you can get. It went along with a lot of the tone of the movie.

Overall I’m fw it and definitely recommend. Idk how well it’ll do financially, but it was high quality. And it definitely speaks to where we are as a people currently.

I really liked this. I didn’t even realize that was mark hamil.

Dunno why but the characters and interactions hit for me.
I didn’t see it was him either until I watched reviews afterward. The character work was a little cheesy, but in a way that I could see them being written that way and working for the movie.

They actually had believable bonds

Read a lil bit of Kings AMA on Reddit and I didn’t realize he wrote this during Vietnam but it makes so much since now. I couldn’t quite place the era, when watching, but I figured it was in the 70s.

Which ending did you like better?
I think I liked the movie ending better because it plays a little more into the true friendship they formed and actually believed it was genuine by making such a sacrifice. It's also less predictable with the main character who has the mother sympathy card and father revenge story still losing anyway. People said McVries killing the major was pointless, but this whole race is supposed to inspire the nation and keep them in order, and that act of rebellion has more of a chance to actually spark real change than just helping out a few people with money.

That ‘genda is actually an overarching theme of the novel. It wasn’t just thrown into the film for the sake of. In fact, it was dialed down in comparison to the novel. A lot of nuance around sexual identity is left out of the film, given one can interpret characters in the novel wrestle with the thought of offing themselves because they’re trying to process these feelings and fear that society will ostracize them for it.

On the suspension of reality with them not losing weight, they were walking up to 14 miles a day when filming, so it stands to reason they couldn’t really capture the drop in weight in a chronological manner. I do think the film could’ve done a better job at portraying their physical decline, which apart from injuries, it doesn’t really do. McVries and Garraty look the same from beginning to end. Ngl it took me out a bit because it didn’t match the emotional toll and journey they went through.

enjoyed it for the most part.
kinda fell apart for me by the end
As we got down to the final 10 or so, I started to predict correctly who was going to die next and all of the deaths were just remixes of each other.
even the swerve at the end was kinda predictable to me
I know I'm nitpicking
so Luke Skywalker had certain guidelines for the one wish but didn't think they should add one that you cant wish for loaded weapons right after you were just tortured for 3 days? Especially since the Hoffman character's dad was some sort of rebel or sympathetic to the cause and apparently they were monitoring anyone not loyal. Luke was also portrayed like the leader of the whole movement with all these b*stards running around based on the last minute story from his son before he died. You would think that breh would have been sniper shot before he even lifted the gun.

Are we to assume they just let breh walk away into the fog like was shown? looked like a dream sequence to me. no one else was around.

Yea if there’s anything I didn’t like about the ending is breh blowing away Luke Skywalker then niccas simply scattered apparently

Where did the Everyone else go?!?
Skywalker alluded to breh “throwing it all away.” So, did he forfeit his riches, but got to walk off into the night without penalty? I thought dude would’ve been blown away instantly.

Aside from all that, I was locked in the whole time. Decent film :ehh:

I think it's part of the absurdity of the universe and "getting anything you want"

I’m pretty sure they’re implying he got killed and was walking in purgatory
