Not having an extremely badly built body makes a huge difference in life
Strangers treat you better, other women aren't gonna treat you like the ugly friend and ghost when going out to social events, etc.
Job opportunities are more available for non ugly people
All that in addition to male attention which is another story in and of itself
Attractive people get better treatment in relationships and life in general
And lastly, looking better is huge for one's self esteem. More confidence, more sense of "belonging", you feel like you are in the right body/right gender when you look in the mirror, etc.

It's a mix of eating right and working out.
I know some people have issues health wise, but that doesn't seem to be the case here.
It starts early. 100% preventable. Sometimes people aren't in a situation where they have parents or adults that teach them what to do, but it's 100% preventable. All that means is they were ignorant to the life they needed to live. Doesn't mean it wasn't preventable.
She had a miracle worked on her, not even mad about it. If you got the bread and want to get it done for yourself by all means go head, that's what it's there for

Yes confidence matters and demeanor and energy matters, but looking ABNORMAL always makes difficult to have confidence. A woman in the op probably didn't even feel like a woman she looked in the mirror. That's tough.
