MBA is a great degree. Business majors are always in demand and an MBA is so flexible cutting across almost every single business-related career path. It's much more flexible then a JD and that's what I'm in school for. Being that the MBA is only two years, it can be a terrific value proposition too compared to other "high-ceiling" degrees such as med school or law school as well.
Like any professional degree, you have to balance the cost YOU'RE paying compared to the expected salary for THAT school. Someone earlier in the thread posted a list of the top 20-25 schools and said those were the only ones worth going for. I disagree. There's great values to be had with public schools much lower then the top 25, and that's before you get any scholarship money.
I'll just use UF for example since that's where I go to school. Program cost is $27K for in-state tuition for both years combined. Average starting salary is $90K-$100K. Even if you go crazy on living expenses and spend $50K in the two years, you're only going to have $77K debt on a $100K starting salary. Pay off the debt in two years and boom.

How Does University of Florida Hough Graduate School of Business Rank Among America's Best Business Schools?
That said, you still have to have some standards on where you go. UF is ranked mid-30's. Most schools in the top 50 are worth it at the right price. Below that probably not worth the time.
