I'm sure there are people who went out of their way to buy 300 dollar Roshes (retail) simply because they thought they looked nice, but I think we can agree the vast majority bought them because of what they represent. Similar to Jordans.

Consumers, myself included, bought Jordan's for various reasons and simply how they looked was not the biggest reason. If you need proof, look at team jordans. No one buy them shyts, because jordan never wore them.

Good for Kanye...he's moving in the direction he's always wanted to go. His endgame is having his own Jordan Brand, while the chance of that ever happening is in the 1-5% region, at least he's giving it a good go and even if the YEEZY brand ended up being a 10th as big as the Jordan Brand, that'd still be an incredible business

This is a mistake.

Depends on if you want to make money or just use Kanye's influence to increase the sale for other Adidas products.
They're probably not even making money of Yeezy's directly since they are moved in small quantities, yes he's raising the power of the brand but this is what he's been looking forward to do. To actually start making shyt that makes money and is affordable.

So mistake is subjective, if your desire is to make clothes for people with normal preferences and wallets (i.e. not putting 50 % of their disposable income on sneakers). At the end of the day, he wouldn't connect with Adidas if he wanted to strictly be a high end designer.
