in terms of gameplay it is overrated just like a shyt load of other games in recent years

but the mediocre gameplay is not bothersome, and is wrapped in a great narrative, with all the detail you expect from ND's design philosophy

so overall the presentation is on point. underrated in that respect actually

still the king of hyperbolic hype. definitely not the greatest game of any time period imo

I thought the gameplay was underrated if anything. I haven't felt more tense playing a game like this since to forever.

The narrative carried TLOU...which is an achievement all its own because that rarely ever happens with games...

The single player gameplay was slightly above average...

The multiplayer was :wow:...just the sheer brutality :wow:

the tension comes when the lose condition is so easy to trigger, and the consequence is made to look and feel so extreme. thats not unique to tlou
off the top of my head...alan wake had that same type of set up. the tomb raider reboot, dead space...

I didn't feel any tension in TR. Only games I felt tension in is RE4, Gears of War 3(MP) and TLOU. I didn't feel really tense engaging enemies in TR. Now that you brought it up, I understand why I didn't. TR there was way too much ammo and weapons at any given time for what the narrative tries to paint. It gives off a survival theme yet bombards you with ammo and tools.

Fantastic game!
First chapter was a bit long.
And it doesn't have much replayability, obviously.
But yea, it was the shyt.

Are y'all going to refute his points or just neg and post shytty gifs :beli:
:mjlol: Hes already admitted to not playing the Multiplayer... he deserves every neg he gets for that alone on top of him making TLOU seem like just a HeavyRain barely any action cutscene game

those aren't valid points. I've refuted them already. I've had these discussions three years ago, I'm not about to explain why someone has to like what I like. They're free to say whatever and I'm free to ignore them or neg.

Why do people try to say TLOU has shallow gameplay?
There aren't many enemy types you have your bloaters, tickers, normal zombies and humans no real puzzles and there's like one boss fight where you play as ellie against that cannibal pedo and you can't let him hear you touch the glass. It's a good game but it's not revolutionary in any way and I find it annoying that a lot of the gaming media considers it as one of the best games ever just because of its story. Also it's super linear you can't even go backwards because of the invisible walls. Not asking it to be open world just more flexible even in Resident evil 4 you can backtrack.

I'm not a Naughty dog hater either I enjoyed Uncharted 2 a hell of a lot more and crash bandicoot back in the day was piff.

That's just my personal opinion. I might have to go back and play it again one day.

you forgot the gym boss fight.
Also, a game doesn't have to be revolutionary to be hailed as one of the best games ever.
It does what it does exceptionally well: narrative, presentation, gameplay, MP, and it blends them in a very good way.
It's a well made game. People like to act like its some sort of conspiracy or w/e but that's silly considering their last game uncharted 3 wasn't hailed as a GOAT game even though it's predecessor was considered one. Backtracking would be pointless because the game doesn't take place in a single location. RE4 has pretty much 4 locations if you count weskers control room. TLOU has seven and that's big distances between each. It wouldn't work in the narrative.

It's a well made game. People like to act like its some sort of conspectus or w/e but that's silly considering their last game uncharted 3 wasn't hailed as a GOAT even though it's predecessor was considered one.
Yeah but isn't that just a bloater you're fighting?
