Premo should definitely stay true to his sound. The issue is that he's not being good at staying true to his sound anymore. Song probably feels underwhelming to you because the drums are sorta underwhelming. They're flatter than his good work.

I feel like ever since The Owners album the drums/patterns just have got a bit weaker.
