Michael Jordan played in a pre-zone era, Kobe would put up even better numbers without zone defenses in the 80's and into the 90's. I think MJ is the better player but in terms of skills/talent Kobe is above him. It's testament to a guys talent when dudes like Kobe and LeBron were competing against NBA players as teenagers, they are prodigious talents.

There is no way you can watch Kobe play, and say MJ has better handles. If we're talking pure handles MJ isn't near the best. Kobe has better handles, footwork, and is a better overall shooter factoring in his elite midrange game, and superior free throw and three point shooting. MJ's advantages are his I.Q. and ability to get to his spots on the floor at will, he was a slightly better athlete, and he had larger hands.

Also, you can argue T-Mac to be the most talented 2-guard of All-Time. He was never a big practice player, Jeff Van Gundy spoke on that, he was a guy who would take naps before games miss pregames and drop 40. 6'9, super smooth, great athlete, a guy who could behind the back dribble out the post, hit you with a Shammgod, a threat to pull from anywhere with range. Kobe was a gym rat, T-Mac was a natural.

Comparing MJ and Kobe's midrange game is insulting. MJ is much more efficient than Kobe.

MJ is also a much better finisher, has better tough near the rim, is a better slasher, has a more explosive first step, has harder to stop moves in the post, and creates space for his shot better.

Jordan used more simple footwork but it's because he didn't need as much to get the shot off. When you're fundamentally perfect on your mid-range fadeaway and can create space at will, you don't need to dribble like Kyrie.

Jordan is the GOAT-mid range player and a GOAT-caliber slasher/finisher around the rim.
