All of them are funk breh

You telling me having song that literally invented slap bass, a hallmark of funk music, doesn't make them funk :mjlol:

And horn sections aren't a requirement for funk. Prince used synths as a replacement. You're reducing the music down to the instruments when it's more about the beat and the rhythm

Things would get pretty boring if it was reduced down to a formula. We need people like prince to push the mode and be creative. Such as not using bass but still maintaining the rhythm

nygga read.. I said ok Sly. Prince is a no go.

You still tried to front like he ain't one of the biggest influences on funk music

There's a riot goin on is one of the most important funk albums of all time

Prince was influenced by a wide variety of music and that helped him create music in pretty much every genre

Funk was always the cornerstone of who he was though. For you to say he's a "no-go" is wild considering actual funk legends and musicians do :mjlol:

If this ain't funk to you, I guess atomic dog ain't either :bryan:

What is your definition of Funk?

Funk was heavy bass guitar driven. A lit of it had horn sections

Slave was funk. Listen to Slide, Watching You..etc..
Ohio players is funk. Listen to Skintight etc..
Rick James is funk. Listen to his bass lines
Prince didn't use heavy bass guitar. More synths than anything

Prince used heavy bass guitar and played bass on nearly every song I posted lmao. I have no idea what you're talking about. Especially given that there are multiple funk pioneers who didn't play heavy bass guitar. Go listen to a Maceo Parker song and tell me it's not funk because an instrument. And if we really want to get technical it's more about chords (D) than instruments. He's one of the most respected funk musicians ever, an elite guitarist AND bassist.

You run around here like your word law. I said Prince not. That's my stance. Great musician, but it aint funk although he added elements here and there
