The Dust King
A Childrens Story
Man this shyt is terrible.
As a Brooklyn nikka, I'm ashamed. Please don't judge us off this, world.
Please, friends.![]()
I'm one of the few that rocked wit Pap HEAVY from 03-06 and even tho I seen thein that nikka ever since, I always had it in the back of my mind that dude would get it together. I wasn't expectin a radio-friendly single, or an improved mic presence...but....but......I thought this nikka would at least learn some new flows...dumb certain songs down a LITTLE...or think of more witty punchlines.
This album is terrible from start to finish. The engineering is TERRIBLE. Voices of the same people on certain skits are at different volumes, you can tell where the engineer (Pap?) just "punched it in" with no attention paid to the overall volume of the track. Same with certain songs. Songs that are supposed to blend together don't blend well, and this has no cohesive quality. At all.
The production is what makes this an abysmal effort. Half (read: ALL) thee beats sound like they're STRAIGHT from 2004-2006 and that's being GENEROUS. The mixing levels are all fukked up, the quality is worse than your average run-of-the-mill SoundClick or YouTube producer...I mean, this nikka could've literally scoured the internet with a $1,000 budget and at least came with some bangers...I have a feeling sons pockets is REALLY hurtin and knowing he couldn't recoup on fees, he went the cheapest route possible. It shows in the production, engineering, and effort. Some songs, he doesn't even sound into it at all....Like he's still just reading off of paper, realizing at that there moment he just bankrupt himself. This nikka has NO voice inflection or verbal emotion whatsoever...
Take it from a former Pap fan...It's over. It's been over, but I was in denial.
This album is just sad.
If it's possible Nielsen SoundScan even checks for this shyt, I personally guarantee it will sell less than 4,000 copies.
The only tolerable tracks on this album are Cure, Pimpin' Won't Die, and the Prison Skit. Smh.
Look at Papoose, y'all.![]()
my ngga I was waitin for a brooknam native to critique.
I think you was a little harsh though I do agree about the mastering etc. obviously he went the cheapest route as I didn't even know that was a buckwild beat.
and yeah it sounds a lil outdated too but some of those songs sounded good to me, mother ghetto is the standard I would hold right now if you made a song reppin BK.
cure and turn it up was cool, RIP, faith and pimpin were fire to me.
if you tossed everything else out in sheepshead bay I wouldn't be mad.
I also don't know why you brought up soundscam because we all know that ain't a good point ever. check war report 2, great album and sold under 4000.
I feel your dissapointment though, reading your post was like you spoke it.
I like joey badazz and I plan on listenin to his album this week but I actually like you better and I ain't ever heard a song yet.
ngga u got me amped up don't let me down.
now back to papoose, he definitey needed somebody to help him go thru his catalog and help selct songs on some "lost tapes" sh!t cuz he has some gems.
that prison skit had me laughin and
