One of my favorite parts of about history class was discovering that the Japanese had this death ray stuff in the 1930s. They just had trouble focusing the lazer over long distances.

In fact, the imperial japanese navy had suggested building a nuke, but the top brass thought lazer beams were cooler . That decision clearly backfired on them :pachaha:
