Real competition like a new NBA champ every year? Real competition like an 8th seed making the finals? Real competition like the Western conference bloodbath every year? Real competition like the play-in that encourages winning over tanking?

You dudes are a fukking joke lol. This dude said switching everything is lazy defense :deadrose::dead::deadrose::dead:

Vegas/sports betting is the NBA's new ace boon. That investment will keep them upright for the time being. On court product/fan money dropped lower down the list. Not really top priority anymore.New TV deal for the next decade.Adam Silver got it made in the shade.Already got paid😎

You don’t know what you are talking about, it’s all emotion like a bish.

The reality is that the players are too cool for school these days and fans have caught on. Nikkas is paid and worrying about their personal brands.

I watch the NBA regardless, I’m addressing why the casual fans are not turning in or prioritizing watching the NBA like they used to. Sometimes you emotional dudes need to think about things outside of your perspective or feelings.

Of course, because everything is more magical during your childhood.

Just like you believe no rapper will reach 2pac's divine reveredness, you have an entire young generation who never grew up on him and instead grew up on someone like Kendrick, whose malleable minds will hold him in that light that you do 'Pac.

You're not wrong in that peeking behind the curtain has removed a lot of that allurement that things once upon had, but I don't think that's ever been in question. The argument that folks use about nostalgia clouding judgment is that they think that players and/or the game were better. By that very nature, I think folks would be better served to seperate their affinity for a player/era and what is better.

Just because you like a player more doesn't mean they're better.

That's how I see it, anyway.

Yet no one has a problem putting Patrick Mahomes up there with the greats of the past regardless of their childhood...hmmm.... And Mahomes is getting a fair shot to be the goat QB and Brady retired a couple seasons ago.

Real skill and talent stands out and gets respect from any generation.

Football is treated differently to hoops.

Hoops doesn't have the safety net of being this country's favorite pastime. This talking point has already been debunked many a time.

Thinking Basketball has entered the building Re: 3s

One thing I been saying is sports in many ways has gotten too smart for it's own good. Too smart where casuals will check out because they don't understand and don't care to understand how/why the pie is made. Don't care to understand why offense is the way it is. It's too hard but great for the hardcorest of hardcore fans who will deep dive anyway. A lot of things people are complaining about are things in the game that are adapting and evolving.

Same goes for media and coverage. As media adapts and evolves there aren't enough hooks to reel people in to the game. Especially as the guys who were the hooks to bring people in fade into the sunset. Part of the problem is the environment and structural. Part of it is the consumer themselves and their short attention spans. Part of it is media and the discourse around the game. We were here 20 years ago as well but again just as the world evolves problems and their solutions evolve too.

You don’t understand what greatness means. It is not something you move on from, greatness is a moment in time thing. People will always appreciate greatness no matter when it happened. Why do you think certain classic cars cost millions of dollars or art like Picasso or Rembrandt cost millions.
