The reason seems to be a coach's decision and does not appear to be medically related.

They still got preseason. Why would you want to play your number one pick in every game? That doesn’t make sense. Most of the players in the summer league are simply trying to make teams or just get invited to training camp. They won’t even be on NBA rosters.
