The NBA loses credibility by not disciplining these officials

Reffing intramural basketball at my old college I will say being a referee is an extremely STRESSFUL occupation No matter how bad these NBA refs are calling games sometimes, its hard for me to totally hate them cause then I have flashbacks of 6'6 niccas who wasn't good enough to make the real team looking down at me like cause I didn't call a foul he thought he shoulda got or cause I did call something If I called every foul the game would never end and we only got 2 hours to get these games out of the way guys they dont pay me enough for this shyt

no lie breh...i umpired like 3 baseball games for nikkas like 10-14 and that shyt had me stressed as fukk (got 40$ a game though )

i was getting yelled at by parents for having a crazy inconsistent strike zone, i was making bad calls on the bases, and i think i was even in the way on one of the plays at the plate

Just because it's not public doesn't mean they aren't getting disciplined.

I know at the NCAA level that if you screw something up bad enough....usually a rule interpretation/application...you don't get postseason assignments.

Anyway, basketball is by far the most difficult sport to officiate and if you've never done it you simply have no idea how difficult it is.

I was stuntin on them lil faggits like

I was T'ing up 12 year olds, tossing parents out of the building

not to mention how everyone takes for granted how hard it is to ref a fukkin game

I know the shyt is hard, even if you make right calls, half the people are going to be on your ass. Missing a call in realtime can happen, especially with the fast pace of the game and all of the flopping and selling going on. But in slow motion replay, there is simply no excuse.

This is the flaw in the replay system, and there isn't a clean way out either.

On one hand I'm ok with both rulings because the proper result happened. On the other hand, it muddies the reason for having replay in the first place.



I am curious as to what the NBA is telling these refs after the game though.

Fouls are NOT reviewable. Going to review and purposely making the wrong call to cover up a fukkup is just How do they maintain consistency now? Do they keep calling it like this or do some refs call it by the book and expose themselves to even more fukkery?

Well making fouls reviewable would destroy flow since there is a foul that can be called somewhere on every possession and fouls are up for intepretation and aren't really a black/white issue like possession.

If the refs are going use review as a way to award makeup calls, it should first be written into the rules that they can do so.

Timeouts destroy the flow

there really are too many timeouts. I can go prepare and grill a steak at the one minute mark and still catch the final 30 seconds of a game. Take at least one away from each team. The advancing the ball to half court garbage is for the birds also but that's another thread all together
