So you saying they shouldn't have played him the last 2 games?
Yes. If this is an ankle or a hammy thats one thing. shyt even ACL is different. Achilles can permanently alter a guys career. I dont think that is something to play with. But I can see how a 25 yr old hyper competitive athlete would...thats why you dont leave it up to them.

KD had a month off though, and he decided he was going to play. Was he just a ticking time bomb
Did you see how he was looking out there? That man had no business practicing let alone playing in a Finals game. Going from nothing to high intensity is one of the main ways to have an Achilles rupture.

Can you imagine the heat the team would get from their fans if they DON'T play him Game 7, despite the risk, and they lose?
He shouldnt have been out there in game 6. Teams do shyt fans dont like all the time.

Jason Williams on ESPN mentioned that this past season was the highest pace in the NBA since the 1970s and feels it wasn't a coincidence that there was 8 Achilles tears this season alone but more of a trend.

Obviously there's much more ground to cover defensively than ever before with most teams able to play 4 if not 5 out shooters, so that + plus the pace + perhaps overtraining. Last part is hard to say, since 8 players out of 350 this past year isn't a soft-tissue epidemic putting the league at risk, tho that several of them have been stars who we know have a heavier workload than other players, and who certainly are not known for being lazy or de-conditioned... makes it interesting.

The NFL has shown us over/over

Dudes play when everybody knows they aren't supposed to

The professional over common man excuse doesn't work anymore. Because they are all playing it by ear. Even with their education
The NFL tends to have smaller, shorter and less guaranteed amounts.

They’ve changed the rules a lot to the benefit of the guys who tend to have fat, long and large guaranteed amounts in their contracts contracts (QBs), and they invest a lot of money in protecting the best of them

He got hurt in game 5. Only so many precautions when you having calf issues. If you let players choose, of course they are gonna play. That's why it's your job to protect them from themselves.

Sit out the playoffs so you can be injury free to play regular season basketball :laff:

You are aware that players have sat out playoff games before right? And an Achilles all but guarantees he wont be playing in the playoffs next year. And there is no telling how this impacts his game or career. But hey you got off on that blatant misrepresentation of what I said though.

Like I said this was a horrible spot to be in

Its the Finals its not the regular season

Its Game 7

He's gonna play there was no way he's gonna sit out
Yeah, imagining if he sat out, and they lost. But he never makes it back to finals in his career. He gonna think sitting out for that calf sprain was worth it? hell nah
