The NBA needs to take Calf strains and "Calf tightness" more seriously now

The nba invests a lot of money in this guys, I don’t know why people are sitting at bars thinking they’re experts at basketball injuries and are thinking of shyt real doctors and physical therapist aren’t :snoop:

The only thing I can think of, to at has nothing to do with the intensity and pace of the plays/modern defense strategies. Is to make sure than the courts function is strictly based on player safety, like skipping that bullshyt ass children’s IST court. And that the league and shoe companies work very closely

The NFL has shown us over/over

Dudes play when everybody knows they aren't supposed to

The professional over common man excuse doesn't work anymore. Because they are all playing it by ear. Even with their education

I THINK PLAYERS NEED TO LEARN HOW TO PLAY WHEN THEYRE INJURED

IF U DEVELOP A GROUND GAME LIKE ANDRE MILLER THEN U CAN MANAGE TO PLAY THROUGH A CALF STRAIN WITOUT OVEREXERTING YOURSELF UNTIL YOUR ACHILLES EXPLODES

THE BEST ABILITY IS AVAILABILITY

U CAN CLEARLY SEE THAT HALI WAS GOIN AT 110% .. SAME WIT TATUM

WHAT I NOTICED ABOUT SGA IS THAT HE NEVER EXERTS HIMSELF THAT HARD... THATS WHY HE LOOKS SO SMOOTH DOIN IT N TENDS TO AVOID GETTIN HURT

IF HALI WOULDA PACED HIMSELF N LET THE GAME COME TO HIM, HE WOULDA NEVER TORE HIS SHIIT

THIS IS COMIN FROM SOMEONE WHO TORE HIS ACL, MCL, LCL, AND MENISCUS IN ONE MOVE.. I WAS ALREADY FEELIN PAIN IN MY KNEE PRIOR TO MY INJURY. AND WAS GOIN SUPER HARD.. DIDNT KNOW MY LIMITS. PASSED MY DEFENDER WIT AN AGGRESSIVE BEHIND THE BACK DRIBBLE, THEN WENT UP FOR A DOUBLE PUMP REVERSE LAYUP N FUCCED MY WHOLE SHIIT UP ON THE LAND

I COULDA STILL PLAYED WITOUT THE NEED TO DO ALL THAT.. AN EASY PULL UP WOULDA SUFFICED

ON ACHILLES TEARS, ITS USUALLY THE AGGRESSIVE NEGATIVE STEP THAT CAUSES THE TEAR... THATS SOMETHING THAT SHOULD NEVER EVERRRR BE USED WHILE U EXPERIENCING ANY KINDA CALF PAIN.

Eastside of that Motor
It’s the ACL era. These dudes 6’8+ have never and were never supposed to move like they are now.

I’ve been watching a lot of Scottie, Grant Hill, and Lamar Odom lately. For being ball handlers they almost never made those deep swift quick movements.

Every time I see Ginnias or a player his size make a guard-like play I cross my fingers cause he could go down any moment.

Both Jayson Tatum and Dame said they felt pain in their Calf before their Achilles injury :francis:

Not the biggest fan of load management, but ANY sign of calf tightness should be a mandatory 8 weeks on the injury report with rehab

In hindsight Giannis and Luka were fortunate they rested right after having serious calf strains last year

They took it very seriously here. Everybody was predicting Tyrese may end up with an Achilles issue if things went wrong, people thought he would get shut down before Game 6, and the team clearly considered it. But this was a chance to win a championship, it’s what they all play for, and he took the risk. Same thing KD did. And it didn’t work out, they ended up with the worst case scenario. But we all know Tyrese wouldn’t have been able to live with that regret if he didn’t play in the game at all and they lost. It is what it is, but everyone was taking it serious.

i would have sat Hali game 6 if i was the owner. round the clock treatment and maybe u play game 7
Easy to say now. But they were down 3-2 so Game 6 essentially WAS a game 7 for them. And sitting him out and waiting until today to play would have ended in the same result. That wouldn’t have been long enough of a rest period to prevent an Achilles tear. They would have just had to shut him down after game 5 and wait until next year, or do what they did.

Players need to listen to their body, not everybody else opinion. That's why Kawhi told them to fukk off, he listen to his body
So which narrative is it going to be. Players are babies and sitting too many games or resting for the playoffs. Tyrese will not have sat out the biggest moment of his career even if doctors advised him too.

For the shoe people, they've done multiple studies in the NBA and college on shoes affecting injuries and there's no proof low top, mid or high top have any impact on injuries. High tops aren't tight enough to provide any real ankle support. The only thing they've found is cushioning can prevent some injuries.

Calfs and achilles injuries and any muscle strain such as hamstring are from over working and over exertion. Players nowadays are playing way more games from their early childhood with AAU. They get to the league and their practice/summer workouts are super intense. Teams need to switch strategies when it comes to practices especially so that guys can play hard when it matters and have the appropriate rest. There's no need to be running suicides or doing physical full drill workouts anymore. Watch and study film, practice your shooting and touch so you stay sharp. No full game scrimmage.
