the NBA should have one player on each team that doesn't count against the cap

I think the premise of the thread is that this person doesn’t count against the cap at all

At least that’s how I interpreted it
:russ: I’m dumb but point sort of stands. You’re gonna have teams giving away crazy contracts that cap or no cap will hold them back in the future

I see what you saying, but dumb franchises gonna make shytty moves to lock down a “star” anyway. You see what the Pistons and Knicks are doing. But this notion allows someone like the Bucks or the Jazz w Hayward to lock down a super star and build a roster he’d like, even though they’re a small market and undesirable. This notion is a lot closer to creating parity than ruining it

The opposite, no max, hard cap, no superteam fakkitry. One superstar for each team is how it should have been from the beginning, and if you draft well like the Warriors then good for you.

Also the coaches/media/executives should rate every player from 1 to 5 stars so they are not allowed to be underpaid by taking paycuts.

Let's say AD is rated as a 5 star player, he can't take less than 50% of the cap even if he's willing to, Kyrie 4 stars = 40%, CJ 3 stars = 30%, Lou Will 2 stars = 20%, etc.

bron makes 30 million a season now. 70 million dollars never becomes a small deal.
But if ur the best in the world at your profession, there shouldn't be a limit in how much u can earn. That's how it works in a free market society.

There's no salary cap for the best doctor or best lawyer or best CEO.

hell, there's no cap on how much profit these team owners can make. So why is there one on LeBron's NBA salary???

Cap limits in sports help the lesser players and owners. But hurt the Stars.
Its not that I dont agree it just history has shown those two have/do value winning over their contract money. Would be cool to see best players on seperate teams because of all the cash they're making but a lot of dudes seem to care about how they're gonna be talked about in the future more than getting every possible cent they can
