The nba to change its Load Management rules. NBA teams are no longer allowed to rest two star players at the same time. 1 million dollar plus fines

did you get Suns vs Heat or did 2 other teams show up?

So who is ticket prices are going to be higher ?
KD, Booker, n Co vs Lebron James, Anthony Davis n Co

Or Magic vs Rockets?

Star players increase demand for prices, not average players.

If People know certain players will be out ahead of time, they will not go.

Tv deals are not paying top dollars to see 2nd strongers bomb threes.

teams do that because they know the secondary market will do it too.

Teams also do that when other teams show up, regardless of who's on the team. Those trash mid 2010s Lakers still commanded top dollar because their fanbase travels. Same with the Knicks, Celtics to a lesser extent. TV wants those players all night, every night, no matter what. But TV is also be tight if those players are a shell of themselves come playoff time. There was that first Warriors title run where they got the Finals and it seemed like every team along the way had players who couldn't play. The Finals where everyone but LeBron seemingly was hurt took a lot of air outta that series. Yes, fans have a right to be bummed out, but hoops fans are wired set everyone up to where no one can be satisfied out of potentially just whoever showed up or watched that particular night's game, which nowadays doesn't benefit the bigger picture.

Lol I wonder why 🤔 it's not like inter Miami did not have a team before
As a STH for NYCFC, no shyt. A big time player shows up, interest spikes. Tale as old as time. I'm looking forward to finessing whoever I sell my ticket to when he shows up to Yankee Stadium (and assuming he doesn't, then I'll just go to the game and watch my team win. I'm good either way). Happened with us when we got Lampard, Pirlo, Diskerud and then Villa. Inter Miami has only been around for a couple of years as it is, so someone was gonna raise the interest level for them, but when FC Barcelona pulls up for a friendly that shyt sells out regardless of whether he was there or not. and now Inter Miami's coach gotta deal with the fact that he can't run Messi out there time in and time out. Why? He'll break down at some point, so even he was looking for when he could rest him or pull him early. When they played the Red Bulls, he didn't wanna play him. Instead he waited til the 60th minute to play him and Messi still showed out. He's tryna manage him too.

Could NBA teams simply just hold out a star for the first or 2nd half and have the customer walk out satisfied? Probably not. God forbid a star was held out of the 2nd half for load management despite dropping 13 in the first half and the game wound up close. It would be like the first half never happened.

Haven't players been on minute restrictions before due to injury? I don't think fans like this, but compared to not seeing the player at all...

If players started skipping the 2nd half of every game, then yes that'd be an issue. But then I'd question why they're playing 82 games if it's too much for star players.

As a person who’s had the misfortune to have blown my shyt my situation was 100% related to me trying to go from 0 to 100 one too many times . When I was hooping everyday I felt nothing …when I started to go halfway and be inconsistent with itthat’s when it started to go left and led to me sitting on my ass at half court .

That’s the NBA Marketing Department’s fault that people only care about watching star players, and not actual teams. Since Jordan, the NBA has been wired and geared towards marketing individual talents, rather than the teams themselves. That’s why load management is a bigger deal in the NBA than it is for other leagues where star players sit out.

If you’re a fan of an NFL team, or a fan of an MLB team, you would be disappointed if the star player of your team is sitting out a game, but I’m still there to root for my team. NBA fans are strictly there to see the individual players. If a star player like LeBron or Steph is out for a specific game, there goes any interest in that game, and the ratings too.

Shorten the regular season then. What’s the point in players resting for 15-20 games per season for load management? The NBA is a business at the end of the day. They hear all the complaints from fans and pundits alike. It’s not a coincidence that the NBA is looking at measures to curb this ASAP. If you continue to devalue the regular season with load management, then you’re affecting ticket sales and viewership even further going forward. Shortening the regular season to 50-60 games might curb load management. It won’t happen of course, because losing games played lessens revenue, but you’ve got to explore all options to quell this if you’re the NBA.

I've felt the exact same way for a minute, shorten the NBA season to like 62 games, so that the games mean more, and why we're at it get rid of that goofy play-in tournament, go back to the regular playoff format

They wouldn't.

It would still be 8 playoff teams per conference.

You'll just be doing less of the same thing.

This is disgusting
This is why MJ is the GOAT. He terrorized the league a minimum of 82 games a season.

He wasn't giving no nikkas a day off :mjpls:

You just hit on it. NBA players are the new goalies. Playing 82 + playoffs at the pace that it’s played is doable but it will likely lead to shorter careers. This is an issue all around sports. You can count the amount of players who have played every game on one hand there. The RB position in football has now become two three headed committees in order to keep those players fresh. We just don’t have that sort of concern about their long term futures. Back then, athletes didn’t either. As long as the money is what it is and the fact that athletes are more delicate (take that how you will) and fans will keep paying the prices, it’s gonna be this way.

Load management is a part of soccer due to the sheer amount of games between actual league play, domestic cup competitions, continental competitions, and national team duties.

Even keepers get days off because that’s a lot of games
