One of my own family members was misdiagnosed by supposedly "good" doctors at the Mayo Clinic when she went up there to get tested. It took years for her to figure out and fix the issue. A few of the doctors argued with her about receiving a surgery she felt she didn't need. She was having problems with her eyes, and they said she would need surgery, but the idiots didn't take the time to look through the medical curricula and trace her problems back to graves disease. So far, she hasn't had any more symptoms, but damn, knowing if she had undergone surgery she would probably be in worse condition today gets to me.
The doctors didn't take their time with her and just treated her like she was an idiot for questioning their recommendations. But alas, it just reminded me that we need more Blacks in medical care and research. There are too few and in some states you'd be hard-pressed to find a Black that owns his/her own clinic.
Black health is very important and we shouldn't base it off of what White people say or think, I believe.
