The actual study did not say black women, it said women of color have a median net worth of $5. That includes Hispanics and Asians. Also, it says median not average or mean which means that half of single women of color ages 36-49 have a net worth over $5 and half under $5.

It's because even if they make money they have to use it to take care of the children and other family members (mainly black men) who do not have a job.
Black women are the backbone of the black community. I know many black women who make a decent amount of money every year but have no money in savings. They have to spend it to help bail some family member out of jail. To give there grandparents some money, to help take care of children in the family that are not there's. It is a crazy mess.
