he will have no priors in new York and will be an absolute nobody, but his "organic" buzz will come thru the internet. and new York will be so thirsty for a new mainstream star that they will let it slide and ride for him regardless. sorta like what the west is doing with Kendrick.

You still gotta work hard to build a fanbase whether u signed to a major or not... The label will only push u if u push urself...
