No. Defense is a part of football and defenses can score. All the defense has to do is stop the other team. This isn't dueling offenses and defense doesn't matter.

Still more burden on the team that doesn't get the first possession.

Imo, if you change the OT rule change it to if you score the TD and convert a 2 point conversion from further out (5-10 yard line), then you get the auto win.

That way, there's at least risk and a decision to make for the team with the first possession. Go for the win and risk not getting it and the other team winning with a TD and extra point FG on the next possession, or take the extra point yourself and play it out and let the best team win.
