The No-Snitch Culture...

Where did this practice originate from and why is it so deeply entrenched/connected to our culture?

I once thought it was glorified in rap songs to seem cool/gangster - 'Snitches dig ditches' 'Snitches get stitches'. Or that it was a Mob thing - 'They found Antonio in the river with a brick & chain around his leg'.

I was watching 48 Hours and of course most people won't cooperate with 5 on national television. I was so sad for the innocent victims nevertheless. I hoped, out of anger, that street justice would at least be served if no one was willing to cooperate

What are your thoughts about snitching/informants? Is it OK not to snitch even to the continued detriment of our community? Is murder the only snitch worthy crime? What about drugs, theft, gangs, etc.? Would you snitch or testify without monetary reward?

There are many innocent men doing hard time because they took the fall and wouldn't sing.

No snitching has been apart of the criminal underground since forever. The Italia Mafia - La Costra Nostra lived by this creed, it traverses all races. No Snitching is meant as a guideline to further the criminal enterprise when a man goes down as its much bigger than the individual.

I do believe if you apart of a criminal organization you should par-take in the no snitching clause, if you are a civilian than you have no means to follow that code.

To me, it's only snitching if you help commit the crime and are singing to the cops to get a lesser sentence, or it's a victimless crime that you just so happen to know about

If you see a murder and report to the police, that ain't snitching. That's doing the right thing.

Thats a human practice that has gone back centuries breh...you keep your mouth closed and mind your business or face the consequences....prime example ALOT of people called Edward Snow a traitor and called for his death...why..because he snitched...but because we are black..its taboo...for blacl people its a little different..our thing is if we both doing dirt then you take your punishment and dont rat on me...

Everyone practice the no snitching policy but only Black people get demonized for it.

We are taught at a young by our preschool teachers to not be a tattle tell.

Hell you can even get the death penalty (treason) for snitching on our government.

Probably because of the hassle of having to go to court and everything for every court date, hearing and whatever bullshyt for years on end just to be a "good Samaritan" and theyll put ya ass in jail for not showing up. The county court house is a terrible commute, park, and place to be at in general for anybody.

These crackers put out a warrant for my arrest when I didn't show up to court for a nikka stabbing me for some charges the state picked up then subpoenaed me on that I didn't even press and I was the damn "victim" Then my case i caught the states witnesses tried the same shyt and the judge put out a million dollar warrant on them nikkas head and had they ass tracked down and locked up by that weekend

Plus a lot of us just mind our own damn business, if its a bogus crime like an innocent being shot then people always come out with information like they should and do but two grown ass nikkas in some street bullshyt killin each other

i snitch all the time

on PEDOPHILES in the neighborhood, so my neighbors know who to watch when the little black girls and boys are outside playing or going to school...

on WHITE DUDES in the neighborhood i never seen before... even if they thinking about a property, me and this old black man call the cops saying some white guy trying to steal pipes.... we already know they probably trying to gentrfi my street cause it looks clean
