Interested in seeing how many Jersey has on it's own. Off the top, East Orange alone has about three platinum albums if you include Naughty, Queen Latifah and Lauryn Hill. Then you got Redman.
But I thought most people who lived there wanted to be known as separate and not all NY

Why is ny and jersey counted as one "city" when they are two different states while Oakland and la. are separate even tho they are the same state?

I live here and while we got love for nyc, we do not claim to be NY nikkas like that. And neither do they claim us.
Even living 5 minutes across the river from Manhattan doesn't mean it's the same culture. Very different.

Aren't LA and Oakland like 700 miles apart? I highly doubt they're the same.
Bay Area rap evolved differently from what came from LA.
It's very different in the East Coast. Just because it's a close distance doesn't meant it's all the same.
shyt even in NYC, you got nikkas from BK and Queens looking at each other funny sometimes despite literally sharing the same island, and border next to each other. nikkas here in the East are very territorial.

But still NYC football teams play in NJ and folks in NJ root for NYC basketball teams...
That may be true that nikkas root for the Giants and Nets but that's it from there. There's not much similarity between us and NY.
I live here breh and routinely go to NYC 4-5 days a week. I'm telling you how it is.

How are north jerz and ny not the same? Same slang, fashion, ethnicities, radio stations etc The only difference is the gangs & dreds. Jersey city nikkas are exactly Brooklyn nikkas & Camden nikkas are like Philly nikkas.
