At the same point in their respective presidencies, George W. Bush had spent 116 days on 28 trips, Bill Clinton had spent 113 days on 27 trips and Ronald Reagan had spent 73 days on just 14 trips.
In 2010, Obama flew aboard Air Force One 172 times, nearly every other day. Just the cost of flying aboard Air Force One to Obama’s hometown of Chicago reportedly hovers around $180,000 per hour.
This is how you know it's bullshyt. They're comparing official "trips" of past presidents to the every day use of the presidency. Bush may have been overseas 28 times allegedly, but he rode in AF1 hundreds of times all across the country. So why is the article comparing overseas trips to the president flying from DC to Illinois? Of course Obama rides AF1 a lot, he's the president - and that's how presidents get from place to place. Think about how many events a president does - campaigning, fundraising, policy events, speeches, etc etc etc. That alone is up to 100 times in a year. Wouldn't it make sense a president would travel more in an election year, plus remember healthcare was passed in 2010 iirc so he was selling that around the country.
Chalk this up as another example of Being President While Black. This shyt is not even questioned when past presidents were in office, now it's a "scandal."
